Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that the minutes of the last regular
and special meetings be accepted as presented in writing, and the reading
of the minutes be dispensed with. Roll Call,- All Ayes.

Award of Bid on Well rehabilitation.
Motion by Jeska seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized
to enter into an agreement with the Layne-5~nnesota Co. for rehabilitation
of well at Jackson Pond, such contract to be s~Dject to the approval of
the State Board of Health. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Resolution offered by Land seconded by King, BE iT HEREBY RESOLVED by
the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that
W~REAS, The City of Col~nbia Heights has made use of an existing 10-inch
well for the draining of storm water into the underlying strata since said
well was installed near the intersection of 44th Avenue and Jackson St.N.E.
in 1943, and
WHEREAS, The City has authorized and provided monies for, the construction
of storm sewers to dispose of said storm water to the ~ississippi River,and
WHEREAS, the discharge capacity of said well has decreased to a point beyond
its effective usefullness, and
~'~{EREAS, to provide for the safety, health, and welfare of its citizens,
it is considered necessary that the City continue the use of said well
until said storm sewer and outlets can be completed.
NOW, T~EB~FORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and city ~anager be and are
herein authorized to proceed with the rehabilitation of said well, and to
petition the Minnesota Department of Health to approve the well rehabili-
tation as outlined, and in accordance with the proposal of Layne-Minnesota,
Inc., as received September 7, 1965, by 'the City Council. Roll Call-All Ayes
Hearing held on Curb & Gutter installation, university Avenue 37th to 53rd.
Five representatives from the State Highway Department were present and
explained their plans and answered questions which were asked by the
Council and residents living on University Avenue. An estimated cost
of $1.00 per assessable foot was given.
Motion by King seconded by jeska, that the Curb & Gutter Project on 'the
east side of University Avenue, between 37th and 53rd, and west edge of
proposed service road 300' south from 40th Avenue, west of new highway
location on University Ave., be approved as proposed. Roll Call-All Ayes.
Various items pertaining to 'the new University ~Iighway construction
were discussed and the blayor suggested that a clarification of responsi-
bility be made where installations existed beyond corporate limits of
the City of Columbia Heights.
Second reading of Ordinance Ho.607, Offered by Land seconded by
Orendorff. Roll Call - All Ayes.
subdivision request from Alvin ~Ielcher and George Peterson to divide the
north portion of Lot 38, Block 2, Reservoir Hills, into two 55' lots.
Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that this subdivision request be
granted and the special assessments be divided and remain against the
North 154', amounting to $i,5S4.59. Roll Call - Ali. Ayes.
A letter was received from Bel~4ar Builders, requesting installation
of Curb & Gutter and Blacktop on Fairway Drive in Hillto!? Third Unit.
Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized
to advertise a hearing on this project to be held Septe~ober 27th.

Request to send two men to shade Tree ~.~aintenance School at U of M.
Motion by Land seconded by Jeska, that this request be granted with
expenses paid. Roll Call - All Ayes.

fund for Parks, and that 'the park area directly easb of 1420 and 1430
Lincoln Terrace be graded down 'Go !provide s catchment area for drainage

Motion by king seconded by Land, that the Nayor and City Manager be auth-
orized to enter into a maintenance agreement with Ninneapolis on 37th
Avenue, similar to the one in c::~stance, through ~ne year 1970. 2oll

A letter was received from R~lland p. iatfield, Commissiener of Taxation
regarding rea~sessment of Columbia iei}~hts. A .~ceting with him was

Request from D{.na.ld :ioore to build a 32x60 double bungalaw at 3902 Res-
ervoir Blvd. with a 50 fooc set Sack.
Motion by King seconded by Land, that dhis request for waiver on the

be allowed for a 60 foot set back at 3902 Reservoir Slvd., in accordance

Heights Builders request subdivision of Lot ll,Block 1, Aud. sub. of Walton's
2nd ;Sub. into twD 50' lots and lot size waiver, as this lot is zoned R-1.
Motion by Ring seconded by )Land, that this request be tabled until after
the action of the Planning 6: ..~oning Commission o'q the hearing to rezone to R2

Budget meeting s were ~et up for '!'uesday and Thursday this week, and
Monday and 'fuesday nex~ week.
Motion by I[ing seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to
have removed approximately 3500 square feet of hazardous sidewalk as
designated, by the engineering deT~art~]cnt, at a cost not to exceed 15¢
per square foot. Roll Call - All Ayes.

Motion by Jeska seconded by King, that -the City Manager be authorized to
have added to the contract of Bolier Construction Co., the installation
of approximately 3500 square feet of sidewalk. Roll Call - All Ayes.
'Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that the City Manager be authorized to
prepare a contract with Suburban Engineering Co., for the development of
.the Silver Lake Beach area. Roll Call - All Ayes.
The City Engineer reported the seal coating work is almost completed,
Curbing is all in and Blacktopping will be done shortly
The City Attorney reported on the following items:
Notice of claim from Shoppe Plbg. Co.
Notice of claim from a girl in accident at 48th and Monroe.
Hazardous basement at 504 Summit St. will be on agenda at the next meeting.
The Gilles property is set ~ to be finished by the 20th.
Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that the license applications be
approved as per attached list, and upon (Roll Call - All Ayes.
