HomeMy WebLinkAboutSept 7, 1965 401 Residents from the area of 49th A~enue and Fairway Drive were present and complained of road conditions on Fairway Drive, and want to know what is going to be done. Motion by Jeska seconded by King, that the City Manager, City Engineer and City Attorney, investigate the status of the street opening of Fairway Drive in Hilltop 3rd Unit, and that a report be made to the Council as to the best way to handle the base and surfacing work for this street. Roll Call - All Ayes. Mr. Gustafson reported the alley grade was too low in Block 3, Hilltop, between Stinson Blvd. and Heights Drive, and the council asked that this be checked on. 5~s. Philips, 1615 49th Avenue complained of drainage around her home and this will be checked into. Roll Call: Nawrocki, King, Bids on Bond sale for water works and storm sewer were received from the following: First National Bank of bt. Paul, Minnesota juran & Moody, Inc., St. Paul, Minn. J.M. Dain & Co. Inc. ~inneapolis, ~iinn. Cincotta, Inc., Minneapolis, Minn. Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report later on at this meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Bids on Well Rehabilitation were received from the following: Bergerson-Caswell, Inc. Thein %~ell Co. Inc., Clara City,¥~nn. E.H. Renner Well Co. Layne-Minnesota Co., ~iinneapolis Mueller Bros. ?~ell Co. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Jeska, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report back at the next regular meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the request of the Fire Department be granted to send one man to a Heavy Duty Rescue Instructors Course at Arden Hills Training Center, September 17,1S,19, with expenses paid. Roll Call - All Ayes. ~i~e City Engineer reported on sidewalk replacement around the Field House, and also some of the most dangerous sidewalks that were listed in our hearings. He stated arrangements could be made with the con- tractor who is working in Columbia Heights at the present time to make these replacements. The Engineer was asked to ~heck into this further and report at the council meeting on September 13th. 402 The City Engineer reported on his investigation of engineering services in conjunction with the Silver Lake Beach development. He has talked to several engineering consultants who would be able to do this work on a fee basis. The Council felt this should be the engineers decision and that he should report further on this matter l,ionday night at the regular council meeting. Report was made on Storm Sewer plans including 44th, 48th and 50th Avenues, Sullivan Lake Outfall, Clover Pond overflow and Industrial Park drainage. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on Storm Sewer work, to be opened at a special meeting to be held October 4, 1965, at 8 p.m. Roll Call - All Ayes. The Bond bids were checked over and it was reported that First National Bank of St. Paul was the low bidder. Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by Jeska, awarding sale of $1,175,000 General Obligation Bonds. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, that the bid of First National Bank of ~t. Paul, Minnesota, and associates named therein, to purchase the $1,175,000 general obligation bonds of the City to be dated October 1, 1965, at a price of par and accrued interest plus a premium of $ none, the bonds maturing in the various years shown below to bear interest at the respective rates per annum shown opposite such years of maturity, as follows: 1971 thru 1973 3.10% 1980 thru 19~2 3.50% 1974 & 1975 3.20 1983 " 19~5 3.60 1976 thru 1979 3.40 Oonds maturing in 'the years 1971 through 1985 to Dear additional interest from Jan.] 1966 to july 1 1966, at the rate of ~°~ _ -, , 2zo Der annum to be issued in accordance with the notice of Oond sale heretofore duly published, is hereby found and declared to be the highest and best bid received pursuant to advertised notice of sale of said bonds, and is hereby accepted. The Mayor and City Manager are authorized and directed to endorse an accept- ance on said bid, and on a copy thereof, and to return such copy of the successful bidder. ~£he good faith check of said bidder shall be retained by the City Treasurer pending completion and delivery of the bonds, and the good faith checks of other bidders shall be forthwith returned to them. Resolution offered by King seconded by Land, Authorizing the issuance and prescribing the form and details of $260,000 General Obligation ~.~ater Revenue Bonds, creating an account in the sinking fund therefore and appropriating net revenues for the payment thereof, which resolution has been presented in writing and a copy will be attached to the minutes of this Council meeting. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Resolution offered by Land seconded by King, Authorizing the issuance and prescribing the form and details of $915,000 storm sewer bonds, creating an account in the sinking fund therefor, and levying taxes for the payment thereof, which resolution has been ~resented in writing and a copy will be attached ~o the minutes of this council meeting. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the~egt~]g adjourn at 9:20
