Land and Armstrong - absent. Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by Nawrocki, WHEREAS: The City of Columbia Heights, did on the 24th day of May, 1965, conduct and hold a Primary Municipal Election for purpose of nominating candidates for City Office to be voted on at a General Municipal Election; and, WHEREAS: The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, at a meeting of said Council held on the 25th day of May, 1965 did canvass the returns and results of said Primary Municipal Election; and, WHEREAS: The following results were determined by said canvass of said Primary Municipal Election, to-wit: Valid Ballots Cast 1543 Votes for Mayor: William Land Bruce G. Nawrocki - il. The City Manager reported on thc storm sewer installations which are most essential at this time and gave an estimated total cost of $915,000,which includes the Highway portion to the Mississippi River in the amount of $625,000, Connecting 44th Avenue fro~ Quincy 'to University $200,000, 48th Avenue to University $60,000 and 50th Avenue to University $30,000. The bonding period would be for fifteen years and paid for by the city as a whole, lie proposed the consideration of a Resolution authorizing the drawin~ of an ordinance for the sale of General Obligation storm Sewer Bonds, at 'the next regular council meeting. The City Attorney recommended payment on the Fischer claim in vie~ of the court actions. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to make settlement with Mr. 6: ~s. Roger A. Fischer, 1~03 41st Ave. N.E. for $310.00, to cover-their claim against the city. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that the proposed Automatic Trans- mission Shop, 4511 Central Avenue, be allowed, with the stipulations as recommended by the Planning & soning Commission, which included a six-foot vertical board R dwood fence along the alley, an ~ inch concrete block retaining wall along the south property line, and Lawn, and/or shrubbery in front of the building along Central Avenue, to meet requirements of the Building Inspector. Roll Call - All Ayes. Request from ~iini Mart Stores to install a building 20xll on the property of thc Heights Shell Service at 3701 Central Avenue, to be used for a Miniature Dairy Store. The present milk an~ ice machines on this p~operty would be moved off, also the tire rack would be moved to another location, so that this new building would be adjacent to the Service Station Building. ~. Nawrocki arrived at the ~eeting at 7:45 p.m. ~4otion by Land seconded b/ Orendorff, that this building permit request be granted upon payment o~ the proper fees, as per plan submitted to the Council as to location, and waivers be made: on side yards, utility re- quirements, and a second building on a single site. Roll Call: I~ing, Land, Orendorff - Ayes. Nawrocki - Naye. Mr. Nawrocki stated he voted no because he feels there are too ~any waivers given to this kind of structure, over what is allo~ed for a normal structure. Request from Roy ~.
