Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report back at the next meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by King seconded by Nawrocki, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on Towing contract, to be opened at the June 14th meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on opening of 44~ Avebue and utility installations. The City. Eng'~. ~ made a drawing of how this street is planned and gave an estlma~e~cos~ of 820.50 per front foot for street opening, gravel base, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and watermain installations. Several residents from this area were present and various ite~as were discussed. The majority present were in favor of this street opening. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this street opening and gravel base, and installation of sewer and water as necessary, but not to proceed until after all easements have been obtained. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on Industrial Park development, installation of storm sewer, and/or water and sewer, all or any part thereof. %~e City Engineer ex- plained what was proposed and gave. an estimated total package cost of $19,000, for the storm sewer, water & sanitary sewer installations. ~Motion by King seconded by Land, that this hearing be,continued until the next regular meeting, June 14th, when more information will be made available. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on Curb, Gutter and surfacing on 47th Avenue, Monroe to Circle. Several residents from this street were present and various problems were discussed. The Engineer gave an estimated cost of 87.00 per front foot or less. The majority of people present were in favor of this project. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with these improvements. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by Klng seconded by Land, that the hearing on re-routing of the Johnson Street Bus to 37th and Stinson Blvd. be tabled until we get a report on the outcome of the hearing held by the Railroad and %~arehouse Commission re~ardinq_ installation of signals at Railroad grade crossings on 37th Avenue ~n~ Star, son Blvd., which was held May 13,1965. Roll Call ,- All Ayes. 364 ~tearing held on Bituminous surfacing on VsnBuren Street between 40th & 41st. The Engineer gave an estimated cost of $3.24 per front foot and $!.08 Avenue Charge. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City ~Ianager be authorized to proceed with gravel base and Bituminous surfacing on VanBuren, 40-41, during 1965 construction season, if possible. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on Storm Drain in Block north of 49th Avenue, East of Johnson. The Engineer gave an estimated total cost of $2100.00 to be paid for on a per lot basis. ' Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this~ Storm drain installation, upon filing of the proper easements. Roll Call - All Ayes. Regarding the flood claim, s, [~. ¥?atson stated he had made a complete report and sent this to Hartford Insurance Co. together with a city map indicating the extent of the flboded area involved and the list of houses involved and what type of damage was noted at the houses. M~. Sokolowski stated claims would have to be handled through the attorney representing these people. First reading Ordinance No.599, Fence regulations. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held June 14th, on these improve]lents. Roll Call - All Ayes. Petition received for concrete paving in alley between 4th and University, from 51 to 52, in place of Blacktop paving as was approved at last meeting. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held June 14th for concrete oaving in lieu of blacktop, in this alley. Rol~ Call - All Ayes. 365 Petition received for curb, 8utter and Blacktop surfacing on 40th Avenue between Arthur and Stinson Blvd. The City Engineer stated that work on this street could not be done under State Aid this year as it was just recently put on State Aid, but work would be done to ~aintain this street in a driv~able condition. Motion by King seconded by Land, that this petition be placed on file and the petitioner be notified of the reason why this work would not be do~e this year and as to the proposed plan for maintenance. Roll Call - All Ayes. Request from Park Supt. to call for bids for Wading Pool at Mathaire Park, to be opened June 14th, as plans and specifications are ready. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on wading pool to be opened June 14th. Roll Call- ~11 ~ es. Request from Activities Committee to hold a Square Dance on Mill Street on Saturday night, June 19th from 7 to 9 p.m. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that this request be granted in conjunction with the Jamboree, and subject to the requirements of the Police and Fire Departments emergency vehicles. Roll Call - All Ayes. Request from Robert Bird for private water and sewer lines to serve 1320 41st Avenue N.E. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that this request of Robert Bird be granted upon payment of the proper fees. Roll Call - King, Land, Orendorff, Armstrong: Ayes. Nawrocki - Naye. Mr. Nawrocki stated he voted no because R~. Bird has not lived up to past contracts with the City. The 51st League Convention will be held at Moorhead, June 16,17 & 18. The Minnesota Chief's of Police Association's Convention will be held at Moorhead, June 16 and 17. Motion by King seconded by Land, that up to seven people be granted permission to attend conventions at Moorhead with expenses paid. Roll Call - All Ayes. Minnesota State Firemen Association Convention to be held at Moorhead June 7,8,9, 1965. ~4otion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that expenses for up to five men be allowed to attend this convention. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the City ~Ianager be authorized to spend up to $985.00 to conduct a survey of the condition of the Sanitary Sewers, Storm Sewers and Catch Basins affected by the recent flood, as described in the letter from American Pipe Cleaning Co. Avis Yurkew4958 5th St.N.E. was present and stated that ~hen the alley back of her home was paved in 1960, it was cut down three feet lower than her yard and garage, and she now has trouble with washing out by her garage, she wants permission to install a guard fence to prevent this and she was told that since it was on private property there was no problem. Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by Nawrocki, WHEREAS: The"City ~ of Columbia Heights, did on the 24th day of May, 1965, conduct and'hold a Primary Municipal Election for purpose of nominating candidates for City Office to.be voted on at a,General Municipal Elect%on; and, WHEREAS: The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, at a meeting of said Council held on the 25th day of May, 1965 did canvass .the returns and results of said Primary N~nicipal Election; and, WHEREAS: The following results were determined by said canvass .of said Primary Municipal Election, to-wit: Valid Ballots Cast 1543 Votes for Mayor: William Land Bruce G.
