Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that the minutes of the last regular and special meetings be approved as presented in writing and the reading be dispensed with. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Co. 281.00 TOTAL $294,745.16 360 Awarding of bid on Radar-~fype Speed Analyzer. The Police Chief and Prosecuting Attorney have recommended the Stephenson Radar. Motion by Land seconded by Orendorff, that the bid be awarded to Police Supply Co. for a Stephens~n Radar in the ~mount of $870.00 including trade-in, and including expert witness. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that this matter be tabled until later in the meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on Gravel base & Bitm~inous Paving on Quincy St. 40-41 and 41st Avenue between Quincy & Central. Property owners from this area were present as well as school Board representatives. The,engineer gave an estimated cost of $3.24 per front foot and $1.08 per foot Avenue charge. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this work during 1965 construction. Roll Call-All Ayes. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held May 24th, on Gravel Base and Bituminous Surfacing on VanBuren Street between 40th & 41st. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on Alley paving between 4th Street & University Ave.,from 51 to 52. Estimated cost for blacktop paving was $2.50 per foot. The people present from this area were anxious to have this alley paved. Motion by Land seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this alley paving during 1965 construction season. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Some of the people present stated they would rather have concrete paving and they were told this could be done if a new petition was brought in with signers for concrete. The estimated cost for concrete was possibly over $4.00 per foot. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Land, that the matter of Radar-Type Speed Analyzer Bid be taken from the table. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Land seconded by Orendorff, that the bid be awarded to Police Supply Co. for a Stephenson Radar at a cost of $870.00 with trade-in, and that there will be no charge for expert witness in Municipal Court. Roll Call - All Ayes. The City Manager reported that claims filed in regard to flooding, were turned over to our insurance carrier and they want to hold ameeting at 8 a.m. tomorrow with our City Attorney and engineers to go over claims and review all incidents in regard to them. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to turn these claims over to our insurance carrier, and that a report in regard to the insurance company's actions be made by the next meeting, May 24th. Second reading of Ordinance No.598, Requiring licensing of Drivers. Offered by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff. Roll Call - All Ayes. First reading of Ordinance No.600, Authorizing sale of unclained and confiscated properties. 361 First reading of ordinance No.601, Vacating Edgemoor Place, 3rd to Univ. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that notices be sent to affected property owners on the vacting of Edgemoor Place, 3rd to University, in- cluding property owners to the south in Block 82, before the next regular meeting, May 24th, when the second reading of Ordinance No.601 will be held. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by Nawrocki, BE IT RESOLVED T~LAT, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, respectfully recommends for acceptance by the City Council of Minneapolis, the "WATER SUPPLY CONTRACT' which contract has been examined and approved by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, the Engineers of the Minneapolis Water Department, and the Minneapolis City Attorney's Office. Said contract being of,mutual benefit to both the City of Minneapolis and the City of Columbia Heights, in efficient utilization of existing and proposed water supply facilities in the Columbia Heights area. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that the attached list of election Judge applications be approved as presented by the City Clerk, and that they act as judges at the Primary and General City Elections, May 24th and June 14th. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Land, that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into the Water Contract with the City of ~linneapolis, upon the approval of the City Attorney. Roll Call - All Ayes. Petition received from BelMar Builders for storm drain in block North of 49th Avenue, east of Johnson Street. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held May 24th, for storm drain in block North of 49th Ave. and east of Johnson, and the effected property owners be notified. Roll Call - All Ayes. A'letter was received from Dunkley surfacing Co. regarding plumbing facilities. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that Dunkley Surfacing Co. be allowed to use sanitary facilities in the shop building on California Street, as meeting the sanitary requirements. Roll Call - ~r~n~prff, King and Land - Ayes. Nawrocki - Naye. ~. Nawrocki stated he objected to eliminating these normal sanitary requirements for this one concern when others in town are required to put them in. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that George Brown and John ~rzyn be appointed to serve on board for the ~conomic Opportunity Act, as suggested by ~. Kordiak, County Commissioner. Roll Call-All Ayes. Motion by Land seconded by Orendorff, that the City ~anager be authorized to call for bids on Gasoline and Diesel Fuel for Automobiles and Equip- m~nt for the City during the ensuing year, ta be opened ~ay 24th. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Land, that the City ~anager be authorized to pay to Leonard R. Merrick and his wife Helen, the sum of $800.00, and in return obtain an easement for the property taken and also a release for any damage that may have been done to their property, such as loss of access, loss of lateral support, as a result of the City's opening of 43~ Avenue. (1011 43rd Ave. N.E.) Roll Call - Ail Ayes. 362 Motion by Orcndorff seconded by Land, that the license applications as per attached list be granted u~)on payment of the proper fees.
