HomeMy WebLinkAboutMar 22, 1965The Council asked that a report be made at the March 22nd meeting as to what steps are being taken regarding sanitary sewer conditions on the west shores of Silver Lake. Numerous complaints have been received regarding the Twin City Bus not stopping at every corner, and the council asked that the Bus schedule be checked into. The City Engineer requested authorization to attend the Minnesota Bit- uminous Work Shop to be held March 18 and 19. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that expenses be allowed for one person to attend this Bituminous Work Shop. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on a Printing Calculator for the Engineering Dept., to be opened April 12, 1965. Roll Call - All Ayes. Hearing held on sidewalk installation on 49th Avenue, On south side from Central to Johnson St. and either the north or south side from Johnson to W.Upland Crest. An estimated cost was given of 50¢ per square foot and $2.50 per lineal foot for a 5 foot wide sidewalk. A letter was received from BelMar Builders and also a petition from residents on the South side of 49th Avenue, asking 'that this sidewalk be placed on the North side of 49th between Johnson and W. Upland Crest. A letter was received from Albert Kordiak stating the County Commissioners had voted to construct a Bituminous walkway along 'the County Park on 49th Avenue if requested to do so. Mrs. Sullivan owner of property on the south side of 49th Ave. and '~r. Farmer repreHenting Volkswagon Dealership,were ~reSent and asked ~hat this sidewalk be placed on the north side of 49th om central to Jonnson. Several property owners were present in favor of sidewalk installation. A letter was also received from Mr. Fudali, 345 Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that the city Manager be authorized to proceed with installation of concrete sidewalk five feet wide on the south side of 49th Avenue from Central to Johnson, and on the north side from Johnson to West upland Crest, and that the City Manager be further authorized to negotiate with the County Commissioners in regard to their participation on cost of concrete sidewalk in place of Blacktop along their county park property, and that the letters and petition should be made a part of the initial minutes. Roll Call - All Ayes. Second reading of ordinance No.592, Amending ~591 on Flue size. Offered by Land seconded by King. Roll Call - All Ayes. Second reading of ordinance No.593, rezoning the E.126' of Lot 9,Block 17, Aud. Sub.of W.S.~. 3rd to C1 Local Commercial. Several residents were present and this rezoning was discussed, also Bermel-$maby Realty presented a plan showing how they were going to improve this property. ordinance No.593 offered by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that the building permit be issued to Bermel-Smaby Reatty on the condition that they conform to the lot plan which was presented to the City Council, upon presentation thereof the Council did re-zone the E.126' of Lot 9,Block 17,Aud. Sub. of W.S.A. 3rd tO C1 Local Commerical. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by King seconded by Orendorff, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the Railroad and Warehouse Commission be, and they are hereby petitioned to; conduct a traffic survey and investigation of the grade crossing of the Soo Line Railroad and 37th avenue N.E., 500 feet west of Stinson Blvd. N.E. and at'Stinson Blvd. N.E. 200 feet north of 37ah Avenue N.E. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Railroad and warehouse Commission be petitioned to recommend such signalizing as is believed to be appropriate under the existing circumstances. Roll Call - All ~es. A meeting was set with the Fire Department for Monday, March z9th at 8:30 p.m. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be aut~horized to advertise for bids on Road aggregate and Equipment Rental to be opened April lzth, 1965.
