Bids on 2 New 1/2 Ton Pickup Trucks for street & Sewer Departments were received from the following: Midway Ford Co. Grand Avenue Motor Co. Main Motor Sales, Anoka Midway Chevrolet Co. Bids on a new or used 3/4 Ton, 4-wheel drive Pickup Truck received from the following: Midway Ford Co. Midway Chevrolet Co. Main Motor Sales Co., Anoka Motion by King seconded by Nawrocki, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report back at the January llth meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. First reading of Ordinance No.5~9, Being an ordinance authorizing the sale by the City of Columbia Heights of certain Real Estate known as: Lot 1, Block 2, Auditor's Subdivision of ~alton's Second Subdivision, Anoka County, Minnesota. Resolution offered by Land seconded by King, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, HEREBY RESOLVES, that the Columbia Heights State Bank, the Fidelity State Bank, and the Third Northwestern National Bank, Be hereby designated as the depositories for ~L~oneys of the City of Columbia Heights for a period of one year beginning the first day of January, 1965, abd the Treasurer of this City is hereby directed to deposit moneys of this City in said Banks, and the Columbia Heights State Bank, the Fidelity State Bank, and the Third Northwestern National Bank are hereby authorized and directed to honor and pay any checks or orders, when signed by the City Treasurer, for the withdrawal or transfer of funds on deposit in said banks in whatever for~. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in case such deposits shall at any time exceed Ten Thousand ~$10,000.00) Dollars, said depository shall immediately bonder securities in lieu of bond according to the law, and the Marquette National Bank for the Columbia Heights State Bank, and the Federal Reserve Bank for Fidelity State Bank, and the Third Northwestern National Bank, are hereby designated as the places for the safe-keeping of all securities ': 323 furnished in lieu of such bond. Resolution offered by King seconded by Nawrocki, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the'City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer from the Liquor Fund as followS: 815,000.00 to the Street Fund 10,000.00 to 'the Park Fund 20,000.00 to the Storm Sewer Fund 500.00 to' the Band Fund and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund. to ~ake.such transfer, Roll Call - All Ayes. Request for subdivision of Lot 31, Black 1, Walton.~s First Subdivision of Reservoir Hills into two Lots. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by. Orendorff, that James W. Dahl be allowed to split this lot on the basis of 'the North 47 feet, with the-necessary lot size and width waiver granted to that parcel, and the outstanding specials to be divided equally between the two lots. (Balance $425.07) Roll Call - All Ayes. Request for Subdiviision of Lot 46, Block 3, Reservoir Hills, by Mable Quigleylas f6llows: East 56 feet for existing house (1307 42nd Ave.) west 50 feet of East 106 feet; and the West 4 fee~ will be sold to owner of Lot 45. Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, that this subdivision request be granted as requested. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the Mayor and City Manager be author- ized'to enter into a contract with Gallagher's Service for Garbage and Rubbish Pickup for the City of Columbia Heights, to expire December 31, 1966. Roll Call - All Ayes. Request to send one man from Engineering Department to Training Course for Public Works Construction Inspectors, beginning at 7 p.m. January 7, 1965, and on the same day each we~c for nine sessions. Motion by~Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that this request be gr~nted, and the necessary expenses be granted. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Conference will be held on Saturday, January 9th, for mayors and douncilmen, at the Center for Continuation Study at the University of Minnesota. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that expenses be allowed for up tO three men to attend this-.Conference. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, BY the City Council of-the City of Columbia Heights, that Bruce Nawrocki is hereby~ designated as a director, of the Suburban Rate Authd~ity, and War~en'A..Armstrong, is hereby.designated to serve as alternate director of the'Suburban .Rate Authority for the year 1965 and until their successors are appointed. ReqUest from Police Chief Glader for. permission for Officer Bixler to attend the 10th Annual Juvenile.Officers Institute,~Highway Training Center, New Brighton, January ~-6, 1965, Entrance fee 812.00 and that meal~ be provides. Also Allen'Booth, Dispatcher, to attend the Police Records Course, Highway Department Training Center, New Brighton, January 4-8, 1965, meals to be provided. 324 Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that this request be granted with necessary expenses paid. Roll Call - All Ayes. Request for Building Inspector to attend the Ninth Annual Institute for Building Officials, January 21-23, 1965 at the University of Minnesota. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that this request be granted with necessary expenses paid. Roll Call -~All Ayes. The City Manager reported that as of January 1, 1965, owing to the resig- nation of Mr. Kvalheim, he has appointed ~pencer Sokolowski as City Attorney and Mr. Richard Merrill to handle the prosecution for the City. Mr. Sokolowski was present with ~. Merrill a.]d ~et the ~en,bers of the City Council. Mr. Kvalheim informed the council he had accepted a position as attorney for the Prudential Ins. Co. Mr. Sokolowski offered to contact the Library Board Chairwoman, Joe studen- berg regarding application for ~atching funds for Library expansion. Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, that the License_applications as listed, be granted upon payment of the proper fees. Roll Call - All Ayes.
