Several cards and letters have been received from Citizens asking that the Cab Stand ren~ain in Columbia I~eights as they were dependent upon this transportation. ~r. Wattern~an owner of the Lippy Cab Co. was present and also his Attorney, ~kr. Wargo. They stated the cab stand would be re-located to the Band Box on Central Avenue, and they would endeavor to give good service to Colu~]bia t~eights. An application was received from Chester McCal!u~, %~illiam Meister and Gurnie M. ~entges, to operate three TaxiDabs from the old cab stand at 903 - 40th Ave. N.E. Motion by Land seconded by Nawrocki, that three Taxicab licenses be issued to these applicants. Roll Call: Land - Yes. Armstrong,King, Orendorff, Nawrocki - No. Councilman Nawrocki stated he voted NO on this motion as he feels that the proposed set-up does not meet basic requirements for consideration of a license at this time. A letter was received from the Park Superintendent requesting permission to have a cen~ent floor poured in basement of Field House where bowling alleys were removed. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the Park Department be authorized to spend up to $547.80 for this cement floor. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that the claim received from Jack J. Bartlett, 5255 7th St.N.E. for d~age to his car, be turned over to the Insurance Company for processing and handling. Roll Call-All Ayes. Mr. George Walquist request reconsideration of installation of utilities in California Street 38-39. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing 'to be held April 27th, for consideration of install- ation of utilities in California St. 3~-39. Roll Call: Armstrong, King, Land, Orendorff - Aye. Nawrocki - Naye. Councilman Nawrocki stated he voted NO on this motion because the people were called in for a hearing last year on this and the majority were opposed to it. He does not feel that another hearing is justified at this time unless a petition comes in signed by the majority of property owners. A letter was received fro~ Fire Chief Bassett requesting authorization to to advertise for bids for a 1/2 Ton Panel Truck to replace the 1949 1/2 Ton Chevrolet Panel Truck now in service. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City ~anager be authorized to advertise for bids on this truck to be opened April 13th. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Petition Petition received for Curb,Qutter and Bituminous s~rfacing on 45~ Avenue east of Fillmore, 4~th Ave. Fillmore to McLeod and ~icLeod 44-45. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held April 13th for these improvements. Roll Call - All Ayes. Petition received for alley drain between 2~ and 3rd Streets from 44th to 45th Avenues. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the City ~lanager be authorized to advertise for a hearing to be held April 13th, for this alley drain. Resolution offered by NaWro~i Seconded~ by Orendorff, WHEREAS, ~h~ City Council of the'City of Columbia Heights has received the recommend- ation for the appointment of an additional Sergeant for the Police Department of the City of Columbia Heights from the Police Chief, and WHEREAS, the Said City council Concurs with this recommendation. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City,of Columbia Heights, .that an additional position of Sergeant be authorized for the Police Department of the City of Columbia Heights, effective May 1, 1964, said authorization is in lieu of, and ~eplaces the position of Police Captain previously authorized.
