Resolution offered by King seconded by Orendorff, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that pursuant to statutory authority, the City Engineer for and on behalf of the City of Columbia Heights, is hereby authorized to request and obtain from the Minnesota Department of Highways, needed engineering and technical services during the year 1964, for which payment will be made by the City upon receipt of verified claims from the Commissioner of Highways. Shaffer, 4050 Stinson'Blvd..be answered informing him that a request' for vacating of an alley shohld be by petition, signed by the majority of' the property'owners, and that his letter be placed on file. Thomas & Associates, Inc. regarding Coldmbia Heights share of Joint Storm Sewer Highway 694 Outfall. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with the State Highway Department, incorporating the terms outlined in Mr. Omachi's letter of January 31st, 1964, as to the storm sewer, their project No.6333. Roll Call - All Ayes. Letter received from Farr Plumbing Company asking for re-consideration of their application for a plumbing license. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the request of Farr Plumbing Co. be denied, because they have not acted in good faith. Roll Call - All Ayes. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. A letter was received from Theodore W. Holsten, 4427-29 - 2~ Street, asking the City of Columbia Heights to take sonde action to correct the drainage problem at this residence. Motion by King seconded by Land, that this letter be turned over to the City Engineer for recommendation and a report brought back to the next meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that the proposal for leasing a building from Mr. Albert Kordiak at 558 - 40th Avenue, be turned over to th~City Manager and City Attorney for investigation and report back at the February 24th meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. A letter was received from the Columbia Heights Library Board regarding expansion of Library. Motion by King seconded by Land, that this request be turned over to the City Manager for investigation and report back as soon as is practicable. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the contract extension requested by Mr. Corwine be granted , on construction of Shelter Building and Wading Pool. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. A Petition for paved alley located between Taylor and.Fillmore from 46th to 47th Avenues was received. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that a hearing be set for March 9th for this alley surfacing, and that the property owners be notified. Roll Call - All Ayes. First reading of Ordinance No. 573, ~ending Ordinance No.462, setting minimum floor areas. First reading of Ordinance No.574, A~ending Ordinance No.143 on Beer Licenses, and providing a penalty for the violation thereof. Motion by King seconded by Nawrocki, that the City Manager be authorized to spend up to $999.00 for the purchase of a Civil Defense surplus Drag Line. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by King seconded by Land, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids for Radio Receiver Units for the Fire Department, based on specifications to be drawn by the City Manager and Fire Chief, bids to be opened March 9, 1964.
