Motion by McCline seconded by King, that these bids for an outdoor sign be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and a report brought back la later on at this meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on re-construction of Jackson Street 40-41. Motion by Nawrocki seconded by McCline, that this hearing be continued until the next meeting, June 10th, on recommendation of the City Engineer. Roll Call~- All Ayes. Hearing held on opening and installation of utilities on California Street ~7th to 39th. Representatives of the Railroads reported they are still waiting for a report and stated they are expecting it any day, but it could be a couple of months more. All they can do is wait as there is no assurance when it will be. Several residents from this area were present and most of th~ wanted to wait to see what the would do. Our City Engineer gave an estimate of $10.00 per running for each side of street for opening, Sewer and Water, but stated this would include sewer and water only from 39th to about 225 feet south of 38th and not all the way to 37th, and the people not served would not pay for sewer and water. Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the request for California Street opening, sewer and water between 37th and 39th, be denied. Roll call - All Ayes. Motion bY King seconded by Nawrocki, that this letter be turned over to the City Attorney for study and report at the next regular meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by McCline seconded by King, that Check No.1006 in the amount $8.30 issued to Tracy Printing Co. be cancelled, as this amount had been paid. Roll Call - all Ayes. of Mr. Ray Ernest, Columbia Heights representative on the North Suburban Hospital Board was present and reported that at their meeting last Wednesday they voted to detach Coon Rapids on the N.S.H.B. at their request, but no action was taken on the request of Columbia Heights. Two hospitals are desireous of participating in financing operation of a hospital in this district, and that before the year is out they will have something to offer. Very shortly they will have a publicity man and people will be informed by brochures, advertising, etc. The following resolution was passed as requested: N.S.H.B. next meeting June 26hh. Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that WHEREAS, this municipality is included within the North Suburban Hospital District, a district organized and existing pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 447.31 to 447.37, inclusive, and including the areas of the Cities of Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Coon Rapids, and the Villages of Blaine, Cirvle Circle Pines, Hilltop, Lexington, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park, and WHEREAS, BY Laws 1963, Chapter 300 and Legislature of the State of Minn- esota has authorized the detachment of any city or village from the district by the procedure provided for dissolution or for organization of the district, which procedure requires approval by resolution of the governing body of each of the municipalities comprising the District, and WHEREAS, this coundil has received and examined a copy of a reso~lution dated April 17, 1963, adopted by the City Council of the City of Coon Rapids, requesting that that City be detached from the District. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, that the detachment of the City of Coon Rapids from the North Suburban Hospital District, pursuant to the provisions of Laws 1963, Chapter 300, is apprived by the City of Columbi~ Heights. RollCall-All Ayes. The City Manager reported the League Convention would be held June 12, 13 & 14, at Mankato, Minnesota. Resolution offered by King seconded by Nawrocki, WHEREAS: The City of Columbia Heights, did on the 20th day of May, 1963, conduct and hold a ~ Primary Municipal Election for purpose of nominating candidates for City Office to be voted on at a General Muni- cipal Election; and, WHEREAS: The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, at a meeting of said Council held on the 27th day of May, 1963, did canvass the returns and results of said Primary Municipal Election; and, WGEREAS: The following results were determined by said canvass of said Primary Municipal Election, to-wit: Valid Ballots Cast 918 Votes for May: Warren A. Armstrong 548 Ralph A. Paul 2/25 James D. Wolverton 82 VOTES FOR COUNCILMEN: Francis R. A letter was received from F'.W. ~assett, Fire Chief~ requesting permission to send five men to the Morris Minnesota Convention, JUne 9,10,'11,12; Motion by King seconded by Nawrocki, that that this request be granted with necessary expenses_allowed.' ' Roll Call - All-Ayes.- Motion by King seconded by McCline, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids' for concrete construction for 1963, to be opened jun~ 10th, as requested by'the City Engineer. The City Engineer reported regarding the proposed state Aid project on 44th Avenue east of Central to McLeod, stating that a hearing would be necessary for curb construction, also that ~ storm drain extension should be made north-from Tyler place.~ .- Motion by King seconded by'McCline, that the. City Manager be authorized to advertise a~hearing on curb installation in connection with this Project on 44th Aven~e, to he-held JUne 24th~ and an informal~hearing he'set for Saturday morning preceding this meeting. Roll Call All Ayes. The'CityEngineer reported plans-and ~pecifications for Sanitary. Sewer, Watermain extension and Storm sewers will be ready to advertise f°r~ bids on June 24th. . The'City Engineer reported that a tentative agreement had beck'reached regarding the re-construction or-the base work on Stinson Blvd,, and that unit prices have'been agreed upon and that the two communities Would worR jointly, using their equipment and facilities. Partial re-Working of the east side of Stinson would'be started'as soon as weather,,permits and-the base work probably would start on or-about July 1st, 'and council voided general approval,of this proposed method.
