RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that
the salary schedule for the provisional Police Chief, I¢~. Merle S!ader,
shall be $7,265.20, as of May 1, 1963, when the dutiss of this position
shall be assumed, and to continue for the duration of said appointment.

excellent record of dedication to, and performance of duty be recognized.
Now ?herefore, Be it Resolved, That as recognition, Columbia Heights PolLice
Badge ~1 be, and the same is hereby retired from service and be presented
to the man who has for so,many years carried out the duties and respon-

advised the City of the proposed work under S.A.P.02-~02-01, and
~.'~'ITE~EAS, the City has agreed to participate in certain phases of said
construction, and
'~.iHEREAS, the Anoka Board has advertised, held a letting, and awarded
a contract subject to the. concurrence of the City.
BE IT I{EREBY ~qESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of Columbia
Heights concur with the County Board in the award of a contract to the
Alexander Construction Co.,Inc. for the construction of S.A.P.02-602-01,

Resolution offered by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, BE IT [TEREBY
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that
pursuant to statutory authority, the City Engineer for and on behalf
of the City of Columbia Heights, is hereby authorized to request and
obtain from the ~innesota Department of Highways, needed engineering
and technical services during the year 1963; for which payment will be
made Dy the City upon receipt of verified claims from the Commissioner

Dr. Herbert was present at this meeting regarding our withdrawal from the
North Suburban Hospitat-Boar~. He-stated St..Marys HoSpital would be
~ interested in a hospital-in this north district, and that Doctors
from Columbia Heights are in favor of this hospital. ~e stated he
would like us to try and hol~ up q resolution which was passed last month
and check on this further.

authorized to advertise for bids on an.outdoor sig~ for the.new liquor
store at 5225-University Ave., to be opened a~ the next regular meeting.

The matter of off street par~ing at 1842 39th Avenue was discussed at
length but no action was taken. This will be studied further and taken
up at a later date.
Motion by Nawrocki seconded by McCline, that the request of the
Activities Committee as per their letter of May 13th, regarding
the Jamboree to be held June 20,21,22 & 23, Parade on Friday night,
and Bingo permit for four days, be granted. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that check ~86 made out to
R.L. P~lk & Co. in the amount of $80.00, be cancelled, as this was
originally paid December 10,1962, Check ~2803. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the request of George
Rogstad, 724 50th Avenue for side yard waiver be granted. Roll Call-
All Ayes.
Motion by Orendorff seconded by McCline, that the bid of AAA House
Movers Inc. for all structures on 47th ~venue owned by the City as
advertised, be accepted~in the amount Of $3,865.00. Roll Call -

The City Attorney reported on various properties the City is trying
to acquire.
The City Engineer reported regarding State Aid Streets and also Petition
requesting that 40th Avenue between Reservoir and Hayes be made State
Aid. He stated the State Aid would not allow the termination of a
major thoroughfare at a non-State Aid street.
Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager
be authorized to return this petition to the circulator with an
explanation of why it cannot be done. Roll Call - All Ayes.

authorized to have the over flow pipe in City Water Tank repaired
at a cost of $590.00, plus materials. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was received from George Gardner, Director Anoka County
Library, regarding a Bill before the House of Representatives, which
would amend the library Services Act ~ to expand its coverage.
The City Manager was asked to check into this to find out how much
more they intend to raise and by what means.
