Mr. Frank Stanton was present and presented a Safety Award Plaque to
Columbia Heights for having no pedestrian fatalities in 1961.
Assessment refund request received from James Johnson, 4823 Washington St.
N.E. as he has already paid Dick Gregor for installing a sewer line to
serve his property.
Motion by King seconded by McCline, that the City Attorney be authorized to
draw a resolution cancelling the assessment for sanitary sewer against the
property of James Johnson, 4823 Washington St.N.E. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Mr. D.D. Dahl requests side yard waivers on the balance of his property
in Mathaire, when house styling is of such a width as to make 7 foot
side yards impossible.
Motion by King seconded by McCline, granting waivers of up to two feet
in Mathaire on lots that are left as per attached list, in cases wher~
the developer requests attached garages, and that living areas should
not abutt living areas where this waiver applies and the reason for this
action is to continue the developement as heretofore. Roll Call,All Ayes.
Request from Donald A. Stotts to subdivide Lot 4, (Ex.N. 5' to City)
(Ex.N. 137.5') (Ex. Road Easement) Block 2, Reservoir Hills.
Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that division of S.W.portion of
this lot be granted. Roll Call-All Ayes.
Request from Donald Sexter to subdivide Lot 41, including 1/2 of
vacated Monroe Street adjoining said lot, Sheffield Acres.
Motion by King seconded by McCline, that division be granted upon payment
of putstanding special assessments of $1,531.70, as follows:
West 60 Feet; East 60 Feet of the West 120 Feet; Lot 41, except the West
120 feet and including 1/2 of vacated Monroe St. adjoining said Lot.

Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that this motion be amended to
include that a 10' lot width waiver be granted concerning the subdivision
of Lot 41, Sheffields Acres and the west ½ of vacated Monroe Street
into Lots of 60', 60' and 62.6' in width be granted, that such waiver
be granted in consideration of the existing area developement.

Severa~ ~rospective architects for the new liquor store have been
interviewed by R~. Barna and Mr. Watson.
Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, that the Mayor and City R~nager
be authorized to engage Progressive Design Association, as the architectural
firm for the design and supervision of construction of the new liquor
store, and that our previous authorization to engage John Bergstedt be res.
rescinded. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by King seconded by Nawrocki, that approval be granted for the
Deputy Civil Defense Director to attend the Civil Defense Conference
at Knoxville, Tennessee, October 15-19, 1962, with expenses allowed up
to 8350.00. Roll Call - All Ayes.

CityManager~be, and he is hereby authorized to draw the.necessary .
Ordinance for the sale of bonds for Municipal State Aid construction in
accordance with the State legislation governing bond issues which
obligate.the. State.Of Minnesota under their municipal State Aid Statutes
for re-payment pm said bonds.
BE IT FURTP~RRESOLVED, that fund drived from said bond issue shall be
utilized in accordance with the statutes which establish the Municipa;
State Aid financing procedures. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was received from the Fire Chief regarding.the purchase of a~
new panel truck to replace the 19~9 Chevrolet Carryall,..and this will
be considered at a future date.
The special assessment on curbing on Chatham Road charged to MinneaPolis
has not been paid and the City Attorney reported there were no provisions
that woutd'all0~ us to waive interest charges. -~
The City attorney reported that on 45½ Avenue w~ will continue to-'have
some easement problems and will.ha~e a recommendation by next meeting
-as t° how we will 'handle this, ........
The Engineer asked for authorimation to advertise~forbids on 2 snow
plows, 2 trucks and 2. bodies ~nd.hoists .... ~
Motion by McCline seconded by Nawrocki, that_the CityManager be authorized
to advertise for bids on two Snow Pla~, 2 Trucks and 2 Bodies & Hoists,
to ~e opened on October ~2nd .... Roll Call - All Ayes .....
