Special Meeting
October 1, 1962
Meeting called to order at 7:18 P.M. Ail members present.
The purpose of this meeting is to consider an amendment to the City
Charter in regard to the filling of vacancies in the office of Council-
men and Mayor, in the event of a State or Federal emergency as defined
in the Civil Defense ordinance.
Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by Nawrocki,
~{EREAS, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights has determined
that it is necessary and expedient to conform to the rules and regulations
of the Civil Defense Department of the State of Minnesota of the 'United
States, that a system of continuity of elective representatives be
formulated, and,
WHEREAS,min order to formulate such a proceedings it is necessary that
the Charter of the City of Columbia Heights be amended, and,
WHEREAS, the Charter Commission of the City of Columbia Heights is not
properly constituted,
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights does
hereby resolve, that the District Courts of the County of Anoka, State
of Minnesota, be petitioned to appoint to the Charter Commission of the
City of Columbia Heights, that necessary persons to constitute the
Charter Commission. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Kinh seconded by Nawrocki, that the question of amendment of
the Charter to conform with the continuity of government procedures of
the Civil Defense, be referred to the Charter Commission. Roll Call-All
Ayes.
Motion by King seconded by McCline, that the meeting adjourn at 7:47 p.m.
