Motion by Nawrocki seconded by King, that the list of Election Judges as submitted by the City.Clerk for. the, Park Bond Election November 7, 1961, be approved as per attached list. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by King. seconded-by McCline,. BE iT HEREBy RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that i~ ?~IEREAS, The current commercial developement of that section of Columbia Heights adjoining Central Avenue N.E. from 42nd to 45th Avenues~N.E., will cause excessive volumes of turning movement traffic, and WHEREAS, there are insufficient traffic lanes presently in e~istance on Highway ~65, to allow for thru traffic lanes, as well as a turning movemm~t lane, that it~is therefore declared necessary and e~pedieDt to eliminate curb side parking along .theeast side of Central Avenue from 42nd to 45th Avenues N.E. at this time. BE IT FURTI~ER RESOLVED,. that the State Highway Department be authorized to proceed with appropriate, striping and street marking to establish two north bound travel lanes on the easterly edge of Central Avenue adjoining the curb, and a left turn only lane appropriately signe~ and' painted beside the existing island at the.,intersection of 43rd, .~th and A5th Avenues. The Highway department is ~lso authorized to close.. the existing openings in th~ center divider strips-between ~2nd and ~3rd; 43rd and~4~th; ~th and 45th Avenues, where cross traffic is not essential. This does~not authorize the extension of the divider strips across any of the existing arterial intersections. · BE iT FET/THER~RESOLVED, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed~ with the curb painting and sign. erection necessary~n order to remove the curb side parking along the east side of Central Avenue from A2nd to 45th Avenues N.E. ~. · ~Rol! Call.- All Ayes. This resOlution was passed upon the hearty approval of thePotice Chief, Traffic Consultant, State Highway Department and City Engineer. Resolution offered by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, BE iT HEREBY~ RESOLVED by '~the City Council .of the City of Col~mbia Heights, that WHEREAS,. the City of Columbia Heights is presently in the process of entering into an agreement with the State of Minnesota for the install- ation of proper signals at the intersections of 40th and 4~th Avenues N.E. with Highway 4~55 (Centra!Avenue), an.d ~V~EREAS, said roads are designated as..County Routes. BE IT THEREFO~E RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners for the.County of Anoka, be and they are hereby requested'to participate in the cost of the installation of signals on these intersections.
