Orendorff, Nawrocki - present. Armstrong - absent.
Mbtion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the readingof the
minutes be dispensed with and approved as presented. Roll Call-All Ayes.

Bids on sewer to serve 4039 University were received from the

Motion by Nawrocki seconded by McCline, that these bids be turned over
to the engineer for tabulation and a report brought back later at this
meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on alley access route ~orth of 37th east of Polk Street.
Several plans for this alley were projected showing various routes,
and a group of residents from this area were present.
Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be
authorized to proceed with acquisition of the necessary land on Lot
22, Block 6, for alley access east of Polk Street. Roll Call - All Ayes.
M~tion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that a Hearing be set for
November 13th for the opening, Base work and/or Bituminous surfacing on
the alley S.E. of Polk Street from 37th to 39th Avenue, or any part
thereof. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A Petition was received for alley paving between Washington and Jefferson,
from 44th to 45th.
Motion by Nawrocki seconded by McCline, that a hearing be set for
November 27th on the paving of this alley, and that affected property
owners be notified. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Dick Gregor requests sewer connection fpr east side of 47th and Monroe.
Motion by Orendorff seconded by McCline, that this request be granted upon
payment of the connection fees and assessments. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by McCline seconded by Nawrocki, that the City Manager be
authorized to advertise for bids for an Ice Cube Machine for the
Liquor Store, to be opened on November 13th. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Nawrocki seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be
authorized to ~ advertise for bids on 500 tons more or less,
Mixed Bituminous Patching material to be delivered to the City yards.
Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
A letter was received from Joseph Medlo suggesting that ColumbiaHeights
withdraw from the Hospital Board.
Motion by Nawrocki seconded by McCline, that the letter from Mr. Medlo,
be turned over to the City Attorney for disposition, to determine what
, it any, course of action could be taken. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was received from Mr. Paul Trench, suggesting that a Sunday
closing ordinance be passed in Columbia Heights.
Motion by McCline seconded by Nawrocki, that the letter from~Mr. Trench
be turned over to the City Attorney for investigation regarding
ordinances of this nature. Roll Call,- All Ayes.

between 46th and 47th. .~'
MotiOn by Orendorff seconded by Nawrocki, ~that theCity Manager be
authorized to advertise a hearing on these improvements, to be held
December llth, and affected property owners notified.

The Subdivision request of Donald Norell, 1231 37th Ave. N.E. which was.
denied at the last meeting, was we-submitted and Mr. Norell was present.
Motion by McCline seconded by. Orendorff,, that this-subdivision request
be granted as follows: Lot 7, Block 17, Walton's Sunny-Acres 3rd Addn.~
and E.~ Front & Rear off, Lot 8, except the S,.175' thereof,Block 17, to be
subdivided as drawn on survey,- upon payment of outstanding special ·
assessments, and the deeding of the necessary easement of the northerly
corner adjoining Pierce Circle alley access. ($1,298.85) Roll Call~'~All Ayes.
Second reading of Ordinance No.531', Being an ordinance vacating that portion
of 47th Avenue N.E. as platted between Johnson Street-and the City of
Minneapolis water works property. Offered by-Orendorff seconded.by

Secondereading Ordinance No.532~, being~an ordinance vacating that portion
of Moon Street N.E. as platted between 46th. and 47th Avenues.

Second reading Ordinance No.533, being an ordinance relating to the
governing of transportation of buildings of any nature or type over
the streets and highways of the City of Columbia ~eights. ·

Resolution offered by McCline seconded by Orendorff, BE IT HEREBY
RESOLVED'by the City Councilor the City of Columbia Heights, that the
City'Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer from the
Liquor Fund as follows: $6,597.39 to the Fire'Fund, and that there are
sufficient moneys in said liquor fund to make such~tramsfer.- Roll Ca!l -

The sewer bids received earlier in the meeting have been tabulation and
it was found that the total cost of this sewer would be approximately
$19.90 per foot.
Motion by McCline seconded by Nawrocki, that these bids be rejected
and that the owner of the house at 4039 University be advised that it
would be more economical for him to proceed with a cesspool.

The City Manager was asked to check on an old car that is parked
partially in the alley right-of-way at 4204 7th Street.
Resolution offered by Orendorff seconded by McCline, WHEREAS THE
Commissioner of Highways has prepared preliminary plans for the
improvement of a part of Trunk Highway Number 212 renumbered as Trunk
Highway Number 694 and involving a portion of Trunk Highway Number 5,
renumbered Trunk Highway 65 within the corporate limits of the City
of Columbia Heights from the North Corporate limits t6 approximately
400 feet south and that portion of 53rd Avenue between said Trunk Highway
Number $ and Trunk Highway Number 56 (University Avenue), and
WHEREAS said preliminary plans are on file in the office of the
Department of Highways, St. Paul, Minnesota, being marked, labeled, and
identified as Portion Layout No.12, S.P. 0285-01 (T.H. 694m212); and
WHEREAS copies of said preliminary plans as so marked, labeled and
identified are also on file in the office of the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS the term "said preliminary plans" as hereinafter used in the
body of this resolution shall be deemed and intended to mean, refer to,
and incorporate the preliminary plans as in the foregoing recitals
particularly identified and described;
NOW, THEN, BE IT RESOLVED that said preliminary plans for the improve-
ment of Trunk Highway Number 212 renumbered Trunk Highway Number 694
and Trunk Highway Number 5, renumbered Trunk Highway Number 65 and 53rd
Avenue within the limits of the City of Columbia Heights be ~md, hereby
are approved. Roll Call -All Ayes.
