Hearing held on Curb & Gutter on 51st Avenue 7th St. to Central, Blacktop
surfacing to be State Aid.
Motion by King seconded by McCline, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with installation of Curb & Gutter on 51st,between 7th &
Central. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on Curb, Gutter & Blacktop on 7th Street 52nd to 53rd (E.side)
Motion by McCline seconded by Chies, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with installation of Blacktop on 7th between 52nd & 53rd and
Curb & Gutter on East side of 7th Street. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on Curb,Gutter & Blacktop on 50th, Washington-Jefferson.
Motion by_King seconded by McCline, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with installation of these improvements and to include the
surfacing of intersection of 50th & Washington. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Mayor Armstrong left at 9:10 p.m. and turned the meeting over to Mr. King.
Hearing held on Curb,Gutter & Blacktop on Washington Street 45-46.
Motion by Chies seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with installation of these improvements. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on alley blacktopping between Monroe & Madison from 49th to 50th.
Motion by McClihe seconded by Orendorff, that this hearing be continued
until the next regular meeting, May 8th. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on alley blacktopping between Monroe & Quincy from 40th to 41st.
Motion by Chies seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with this improvement. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on concrete alley paving between Jefferson & Madison,42-43.
Motion by McCline seconded by Chies, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with this improvement. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on concrete alley paving west of Reservoir Blvd. from Gould to
40th Avenue~~ ~ It was recommended that this alley be paved with blacktop as
~he water tine.in -the al!ey~right-of-way is rather old.
Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized
to proceed with installation of heavy duty blacktop in this alley, and
cost to be assessed on a uer building sire basis. Roll Call ' All Ayes.
Hearing held on sidewalk on west side of 2~ Street 37th to 38th.
Motion by McCline seconded by Chies, that this hearing be continued until
May 8th, and an engineering survey be made as to watermain depth. Roll
Call - All Ayes.
Hearing held on blacktop paving on Chatham Road, Golf Place to Fairway Drive.
Motion by Chies seconded by.McClinem, that this hearing be continued until
May 8th, and the city Manager asked to again contact Minneapolis regarding
-their intentions. Roll Call - All Ayes.

A Pebition was received from residents on 42nd AvenUe asking the Council
to re-consider the permit granted to build two tri-plexes at 1331 & 1341
42nd Avenue. ,
Motion by Chies seconded by Oren~orff, that this petition regarding
Lot 48, Block 3, Reservoir Hills, be placed on file and Mr. Watson
contact i~r. John Hanson and arrange a meeting with these neighbors.

Petition received for sidewalk on east side of 5th Street between 49th
and 50th.
Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager 'be
authorized to advertise a hearing on this improvement for the May 22nd
council meeting. Rol.1 Call - All Ayes.
A request was received for subdivision of Lots 1 to 4 incl. (Ex. Lot 1-&
N.~ of Lot 2), Block 2,Sheffield's 2nd Sub. by Hilltop Drive-in Theater, Inc.
Motion by McCline seconded by Chies, that -this subdivision be Granted
as follows: L6t 2, (Ex.N.~ ~hereof) & all of Lot ~, providing ~e~i~ssessments
with the ~original tract in the n~e 6f Hilltop Drive-in Theater,Inc.

Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that check No.390 issued to
the Hennepin Bottling Co. in the amount of $583.18 be cancelled as new
check was issued as replacement M~rch 29,1961. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Request received from Mr. Maciaszek and Mr. Wick for platting 45~
Avenue east of Fillmore.
Motion by McCline seconded by Chies, that this request for platting be
turned over to the City Engineer for recommendation and report at
next meeting, May 8th. Roll Call -All Ayes.
The city mechanic requests permission to purchase a new Street'flusher pump
so that a more complete jo~can be done in cleaning our streets. '~
Motion by Chies seconded bY~McCline, that the City Manager be authorized
to purchase a new Street Flusher Pump at a cost not to exceed $9~7.00.

Motion by Chies seconded by Orendorff, that all~ysurfacing between. Polk
and Tyler from 39th to ~0, be sufficiently delayed to be assessed in
1962, as per petition received. Roll Call - All Ayes.
First reading Ordinance No.520, Being an'ordinance amending and correcting
Ordinance No.400, being an ordinance authorizing the sale of certain Real
property known and described as Lot 8, Rearrangement of Block ~C~,
C.H. Annex to ~nneapolis, Minnesota.
Resolution offered by Chies seconded by Orendorff~ ?~HEREAS, It appears
to the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the road
hereinafter described should be revoked as a Municipal State Aid Street,
under the provisions of Minnesota Laws;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia
Heights, that the road described as follows, to-wit:
7th Street N.E. between 51st Avenue and 53rd Avenue N.E.
be, and hereby is, revoked a~ a Municipal State Aid Street of said
City, subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Highways of the
S~ate of Minnesota.
BE IT FURTt~ER RESOLVED~ that the City Clerk, is hereby authorized
and directed to forward two certified copies of this resolution to

Ron Smith of 4140 Central was present regarding the condition of alley
back of him. The City Engineer stated he had talked with Dr. Nauman

Meeting called to order at 8:25 p.m. Roll Call: King, Armstrong,
Orendorff - present. McCline &Chies - absent.
Award of Bids on two new Trucks, also Bodies & Hoists:
Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, that ~dway Ford Co. be awarded
the bid on twO'new .Trucks FS00, in the amount of $7,154.00, to include
power steering, as per tabulation attached. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, .that the LaHass Corporation be
awarded the bid on two Class 8 Bodies and Class 9 Hoists, at a total
cost of $2,038.00, as per tabulation attached. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Requests for suDdivision were received from Chester W. Holmstrom on
Lot 5, Block 2, Aud. Sub.of Walton's 2nd Sub., and George W. LaBeau
on Lot 4, Block 3, C.H. Acres.
Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that these requests for subdivision
be held over to the next regular meeting, and the City Manager be in-

Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, that the action at the April 24th
meeting granting 8500.00 to the Suburban Hospital Board, be amended to
provide that the 8500.00 pa~oent will be made only after all of the
other participating communities have authorized payment of the $500.00.
