Motion by Orendorff seconded by King, authorizing expenses for up
to four representatives of the City~.~f Columbia Heights to attend
the annual dinner meeting to be held January 19th at the Boulevard
in Golden Valley, sponsored by the Civil Defense Council. Roll Call-

A letter has been received from Me City of Fridley suggesting that~e consider asking
Anoka County to discontinue designation of hgth Avenue as a County road. They feel
that since there is a school built on ~gth Avenue its continued use as a County Road
would create a hazardous situation for the school children.
Notions: by NcCline secorded by Orend°rff that the City Nauager be instructed to
reply that we do not feel .thab the location i~ of the school is sufficient reason
to remove ~th Avenue from County Aid. Roll csll - all a yes
The City }~anager reported that the Building Inspector will be notifying Some
property owners to remove certain unsafe structures within 90 days.~
The City Nanager reported on two used Notorola Handi Talkies which have been offered
for sale. He will look into other equipment of that nature and report at a later
meeting.
NaYor Armstrong arrived at the meeting at 8:2~.
The matter of the license fee for Christmas Tree sales lots was discussed, but no
action was taken.
Motion by King seconded by McOline that the City Manager be authorized to proceed
with the request for a cash audit of the books mad affairs of the City for the

The City Enginee~ ~eported that approximat~ly 75 street signs are needed.
Motion by King seconded by Orendorff that the City ~M.anager be anthorized to
advertise for bids for street signs as recommended by the Engineer.
The Barber Oil Co. claim on a bid error was R°~erCre~t~ ~e1 ~ Attorney.
Motion by McOline seconded ~y Eing that the City Manager be authorized to
advertise for bids for a backhoe attachment accordLng to the Engi~.eer's
speci~ic'ations, at the February 27th regular meeting.

proceed with preliminary plans for a new City Shop site at the dead-end on
3$th Avenue. Roll call - all ayes
Motion by Eing seconded '~ McOline that a special council meeting be set up
for Tuesday February 21 for a hearing on the South Trunk Sewer assessments.

Motion by King seconded by McCline tha~ the City Manager and City Attorney
be instructed to draw' up a resolution forming an "Insurance Committee" to be
presented at the next regular meeting, providing such an Ins'urance Committee

Resolution offered by McCline seconded by King BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED' by the
City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that~
WHEREAS during the pas% several months city and state officials have met and
corresponded with one another in regard to traffic control on Highway 65
(Central Avenue) and:
WHEreAS it is deemed necessary and expedient by the City of Columbia Heights
to have installed signalized intersections on said Central Avenue at 49th
Avenue N~E. and at ~4th Avenue N.E. and to rehabilitate the existing signals
at 4Otb Avenue N.E. and Central Avenue.
NOW THEREFC~E, BE IT RESOLVED that: the City Council of the City of Columbia
Heights hereby petitions the Highway Department, State of Minnesota, to
have the proper signalization completed at above named intersections.
~ IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights
does authorize its Mayor and City Manager to enter into an agreement with
the Department of Highways, State of Minnesota, for the purpose of
construction of said signals, a~d that the cost of said signals be borne
Jointly between said Depar~nent of Highways and t he said City of Columbia
Heights.
