Secondreading of Ordinance No.506, Being an Ordinance amending Ordinance No.377 being an ordinance establishing a fire prevention code for the City of Columbia HeightS. Second reading Ordinance No.507, being an ordinance relating to the governing of transportation of buildings of any nature or type over the streets and highways of the City of Columbia Heights. Resolution offered by McCline seconded by·Orendorff, BE SOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that salary adjustments granted to full-time City employees as follows: ~treet Foreman, Sewer & Water Foreman, and Park Supt. - 13¢ p~r hour. Park-keepers 13¢ per hour Truck Drivers, Heavy equipment operators and other street, sewer, water and park employees - 8¢ per hour. Other employees shall receive 8¢ per hour salary increase, excep~ as otherwise specified in the 1961 departmental budget. BE IT FURTi-~R RESOLVED, that said adjustment shall include any new fringe benefits and shall .become effective January t, 1961. Roll Call - All ~_yes. Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be'author- ized to advertise a hearing to be held January 9th, for installation 'of curb and gotter on A9th ~venue from 4th Street to Central within the corporate limits of Columbia Heights. Mr. Chies appeared a~ the meeting at 8:15 p.m. Resolution offered by ~hies seconded by Orendorff, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights HEREBY RESOLVES, that the Columbia ~eights State Bank, The Fidelity State Bank and the Third Northwestern'National Bank, be hereby designated as the depositories for moneys of the City of Columbia Heights, for a period of one year beginning the 1st day of January, 1961, and the Treasurer of this City is hereby directed to deposit moneys of this City in said banks~and the Columbia Heights State Bank, the Fidelity State Bank, and the Third Northwestern National Bank, are hereby author- ized and directed to honor and pay any checks or orders~ when signedby the C~ City Treasurer, for the withdrawals or transfers of funds on deposit in said Banks in whatever form. BE· ~T..~URTP~R P~SOLVED, that in case such deposits shall at any time exc~gd Ten Thousand ($10,000.00) Dollars, said depository shall immed2 lately/furnish bond or securities in lieu of bond according to law, and the~Marquette National Bank for the Columbia Heights~State Bank; and the Federal.Reserve Bank for the Fidelity State Bank, and the Third North- -wester'n National Bank, is hereby designated as a place for the safe- keeping .of all securities furnished in lieu of such bond. Resolution offered by McCline seconded by Orendorff, BE IT HEREBY SOLVED by the City Council of the City of Col~bia Heights, that the Industrial water rate charge shall bs 27¢ per hundred cubic feet per user, for usage in excess of 500,000 cubic feet per quarter. WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the Street hereinafter described should be designated as a Municipal State Aid Street under the provisions of ~nnesota Laws of 1959, Chapter 500, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that ~nicipal State Aid Street No.02-101, now designated as 37th Avenue N.E., between Central Avenue N.E. (T.H. ~65) and Stinson Blvd., Re: Resolution adopted September 9, 1957, be and hereby is re-designated to include the following: The north 1/2 of 37th Avenue N.E. between Main Street N.E. and Stinson Boulevard as platted, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward two certified copies of this Resolution to the Commissioner of Highways for his consideration and that upon his approval of the designation of said road or portion thereof, that same be con- structed, improved, and maintained as Municipal State Aid Street of the City of Columbia Heights, to b~ numbered and known as Municipal State Aid Street No.02-101. Resolution offered by Chies seconded by McCline, WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is necessary and expedient for the preservation of surface drainage in the area of 48th and Monroe Street N.E., WHEREAS, the City has been maintaining a ponding area on Lots 12 thru 15 and the south 1/2 of Lot 11, Block 5, Valley View Addition, and WHEREAS, the said land above described is presently owned by private persons; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the lands above described, be purchased fo~ the n~a~ntenance of a ponding area at a cost of $3,000.00, from Ray Ekberg and Dominic A. Thomas & Associates to furnish the necessary information on Storm Sewers in the State Highway and County Aid Road right-of-ways, to the State and County Highway Departments. Roll Call - All Ayes. The City Attorney reported that according to the Minnesota League of Municipalities, that Columbia Heights is now a City of the 3rd class, wtmich will mean that we will have some laws applicable to us that are different than those we are operating under at the present time as a City of the 4th class. Motion by Chies seconded by McCline, that the Building Inspector be granted expenses to attend the 5th Annual Institute for Building Officials at the University of Minnesota Continuation Center, January 19th and 20th. Roll Call - A].i Ayes. John Murzyn appeared at the meeting and reported he had located a Roto Broom with hydraulic attachment for sale by Industries,Inc., 209 W. Broadway, Mpls., to be used for the various skating rinks operated by the Park Board. Motion by Chies seconded by McC2=ine, that the City Manager be,authorized to purchase this equipment for the Park Department in an amount up to 8894.00. Roll Call - All Ayes. The resident living at 4037 Polk Street was present and the method of assessment on the watermain to serve his property was explained.
