Hearing held on installation of Sanitary sewer, and Watermain on 49th Avenue, Central to W. Upland Crest. Hearing held on Concrete paving of alley between 6th & 7th, 47th to 48th. Resolution offered by Chies seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the following fees be established: 1. Inspection fee for water connections made to existing services stubbed in from the main lines to the side of the travelled thoroughfare, be $5.00. 2. Connection charge for sewer connections made to an existing service stubbed in from the main sewer to the side of the travelled thorQughfare to be 82.00. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by King seconded by McCline, WHE~; The commissioner of Highways of the State of Minnesota has submitted to the City Council for execution, an agreement relating to restriction of parking on those streets and avenues wherein Municipa~ State Aid funds are used in improv- ing said strees and avenues. NOW BE IT RESOLVED; By the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights; that the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of and in the name of the City of Columbia Heights, an agreement between the City and 'the Commissioner of Highways wherein the City agrees to restrict parking to one side of Jefferson Street between 49th and 51st Avenues N.E. A letter was received from the Twin Cities Metropolitan Planning Commission soliciting participation of Officials of the Twin Cities Metropolitan area, to attend the public hearing on its 1961 budget Wednesday, September 7,1960 at the Midway YMCA, 1761 University Ave.,St. Paul 4, Minn. Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be author- ized to advertise for surfacing of Jefferson Street between 45th & 51st, to be opened at the next regular meeting, September 12, 1960. Roll Call - All Ayes. Regarding the land purchase request for a new street to be opened west of Buchanan, a Petition was received from residents living on Polk Street protesting this street being opened to Polk Street. Motion by McCline seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be author- ized to proceed withthe purchase of the West 60 fe~~o~O~eu~e~,~e~00, Auditor's Subdivision of Walton's Sunny Acres 3rd~ an - g north end of the new street to include a cul-de-sac tangent to the alley southeast of Polk Street. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Petition was received for completion of curbing on 50th Avenue between 6th and 7th Street, also blacktop mat on 50th between 6th & 7th Streets. Motion by King seconded by Chies, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held on these requests at the regular meeting September 12, 1960. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Petition was received fo~ completion of curbing and Blacktop mat laid on 7th Street between 51st and 52nd. Motion by McCline seconded by King, that a hearing be held on this project September 26, 1960. Roll Call - All Ayes. The request for removal of Telephone Booth on S.W. corner of 40th & Central was discussed and City Manager was asked to contact the Telephone Co. for their suggestions. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for sale the old Low-Boy Trailer, bids to be opened September 12, 1960. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Chies seconded by'King, that the City Manager be authorized to to proceed with purchase of a sign for the front of the new Library, with cast aluminum letters , in the amount of $215.00. Roll Call ~ All Ayes. Motion by King seconded by Orendorff, that the list of Election Judges as submitted be accepted. Roll Call - All Ayes. ~esolution offered by King seconded by Chies, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the pay for ~the Election Judges serving within the said City of Columbia Heights, will be $1.00 per hour for those judges serving 'their initial election; thereafter the pay shall be $1.25 per hour for each election Judge. Roll Call - All Ayes. Special Council meeting Monday, August 29th, at 7:30, and at 8 p.m. with Mr. Bather regarding Traffic Survey. Meeting with County Commissioners, and Park Board at 8 p.m. ?~dnesday, August 24th. Motion by King seconded by McCline, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on cleaning water stand pipe in Columbia Heights, on either a lump sum basis or with an alternate maintenance contract, to be opened at the next regular council meeting, September 12,1960. Resolution offered by King seconded by orendorff, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City Manager and Mayor be authorized to enter into a lease covering Municipal-Liquor Store No~2, 3856 Univ. Age. N.E., for a p~riod of one year at $250.00 per month rent with an option of two years; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said lease shall provide that in the event an election should~be~held in Columbia Heights during the year 1960 or 1961 and the voting favors discontinuing t~e Municipal operation, that said lease shall be terminated, and that all the terms of the lease shall be void; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a clause should be included that the leasor intall.additional storage area as required by 'the Liquor Store Manager, at no increase in rent. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Chies seconded by King, that Houser Corporation be paid the sum of $600.00 for equipment, rental, out of the proper funds. Roll Call - All Ayes. Johnson 639 Adams St.N.E. Rubbish A group of people from 5th and 6th Streets between ~5th and ~6th Avenue, appeared at-the meeting and asked that the condemnation cost and assess- ments for their alley opening be reviewed, in view of the variations in awards made in the condemnation proceedings. The City Attorney will in- vestigate any possibility of adjusting assessments as to the legality of such procedure. I! Party living at 1133 - 45th Avenue appeared at the meeting and wanted a definite answer on when 'the City is going to fix the bank in front of their house. The City Engineer stated this will be taken care of as soon as curbing is in. Motion by King seconded by Chies, that the meeting adjourn at 11:15 p~m. Roll Call - All Ayes.
