Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that the meeting adjourn at 10:10 p.m. Roll Call - All Ayes. Secretary of City Council MAYOR OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS Special Meeting May 21, 1959 Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. Ail ~embers present. In accordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the City of Columbia Heights, the following resolution on the canvass of the Primary Municipal Election held May 1~, 1959, was passed: WHEREAS: The City of Columbia Heights, d~d on the 18th day of May, 1959, conduct and hold a Primary Municipal Election for purpose of nominating candidates for City Office to be voted on at a General Municipal Election; and, WHEREAS: ~he City Council of the City of Columbia Heights at a ~aeeting of said Council held on the 21st day of May, 1959, did canvass -the returns and results of said Primary Municipal Election; and, WHEREAS: The following results were determined by said canvass of said Primary Municipal Election, to-wit: Valid Ballots Case 21~0 Vcid Ballots Case 2 Total Ballots Cast 2152 Votes for Mayor: ~'~arren Arms trong George Martonik J~es McNeil John P. Stopka 74!.1 778 155 4-62 Votes for Councilmen: Betty Ann Johnson Bernard Julkowski C.L. McCline Joseph M. Medlo Joe J. Wargo NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Columbia That Betty Ann Johnson, Bernard Julkowski, C.L. McCline and Joe J. Orendorf, be and they are hereby declared to be candidates for C6uncilmen at the General Municipal'Election to be held June 8th,1959. That Warren Armstrong and George Martonik be and are hereby declared to be candidates for Mayor of the City of Columbia Heights at the General Municipal Election to be held June 8th,1959. That Joseph E. Wargo be and is hereby declared to be a candidate for Municipal Judge at the General ~1unicipal Election to be held June 8th,1959. .Re~lution offered by Julk6wski, seconded by King. Roll Call - All Ayes. A discussion was held regarding write-ins and.it was ~greed that they should be listed on the resolution regardless of the number of ballots cast for them, unless it is determined to be unnecessary by the City Attorney in accordance with the governing laws.
