A Hearing was held on utility extensions on Tyler Street and Arthur Place, north of 44th ~venue, and a discussion took place. Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, that this hearing be continued until the next meeting, April 27th, and in the meantime the Engineer get more information on grades, drainage problems, etc. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. A Hearing was held on Alley Bla~ctopping between Central and VanBuren from 39th to 40th. Some effected home owners were present and grades and drainage problems were discussed. Motion by Chies seconded by Jutkowski, that this hearing be laid on the table until the council meeting on June 23rd. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on installation of sidewalk on 5th Street between 48th and 49th. Motion by King seconded by Proft, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this sidewalk installation. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on installation of Curb & Gutter, Sidewalk and BlaCktop on 7th Street between 49th and 50th. Motion by Proft seconded by Julkowski, that the CityManager be authorized to proceed with this work. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on installation of Curb & Gutter, and Blacktop on 45th Avenue between Central and Monroe. Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, Authorizing the City Manager to pro¢eed with this work. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on installation of curb & gutter, Blacktop and drain system on 43rd Avenue between Arthur and Benjamin. Motion by King seconded by Proft, that this hearing be continued until the next meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. ~tion by Chies seconded by King, that R.D. Thomas & Associates be authorized to go ahead on storm sewer on 7th Street between 48th & 50th. Roll Call - All Ayes. A recess was called at 9:45 p.m. Meeting called to order-at 9:55 p.m. A letterewas received from the Library Board asking the council to appropriate $3,000. for the purchase and processing of children's books, which should be replaced. Resolution offered by Julkowski seconded by Proft, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer from the Liquor Fund the sum of $2,000.00 to the Library Fund, for the cost of processing and buying of children's books, and that there are sufficient moneys in said liquor Fund to make such transfer. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Chies seconded by Julkowski, authorizing the City Manager to proceed with the plans of the Library building in line with the rough plans formerly presented. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on installation of Curb & Gutter and Blacktop on 7th Street between 45th and 47th. Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, authorizing the City Manager to proceed with this work. Roll Call - All Ayes. Petitions and requests were received for the following improvements: Street opening - Cleveland Street between 40th and 41st. Blacktop Tyler Street between 46th and 47th. Resolution offered by King seconded by Proft, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City. Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer from the Liquor Fund as follows: 85,000.00 to the Street Fund and that there are sufficient moneys in said L~iquor Fund to m~e such transfer. Roll Call - All Ayes. A request was ma~e for authorization to send one employee to each of the following schools: pa~cing Meter School, April~ 15,16,17. Traffic Court Confer~Bce, April 27,28,29. Motion by Chies seconded by King, granting this authorization for employees to attend above schools. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by Chies seconded by King, that the City Manager be allowed to attend the City Manager School at the University of Kansas, April, 22,23,24, with expenses paid. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. The City Manager reported a used cash register for the No.1 Off-Sale Liquor Store has been located at a cost of $990.00. Motion by Proft seconded by King, authorizing the City Manager to purchase this used cash register. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. The Civil Defense will hold an alert on Friday, April 17th, and a tentative evacuation is set up with the City Office to be re-located in Milaca. The City Engineer reported a letter had been received from the City of Minneapolis, offering to share expenses for the installation of a Traffic signal at 37th and Central. Motion by Proft seconded by Chies, authorizing the City Manager to negotiate with the City of ~nneapolis for the installation of this traffic signal. Roll Call - All Ayes. Th a~% ~il~ Engineer reported on street platting west of Reservoir Blvd. Avenue, as recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission. Motion by King seconded by Proft, that a hearing be held on April 27th, on platting of a new street from 40th to north of 41st Avenue bordering the swamp west of Reservoir Blvd. including utility extensions.
