A continued hearing was held on alley from 37th to 39th east of .olk
Street.
Motion by Chies seconded by Proft, authorizing the City Manager ~o
proceed with the preliminary plans for alley & street platting il the
block east of Polk between 37th and 39th. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A Public Hearing was held for concrete curb & gutter for Pierce
Terrace in Mathaire Addition.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, authorizing the City Manag ~r
to proceed with concrete curb & gutter on Pierce Terrace. Roll
call - Ail Ayes.
A letter was received from Hilltop Village requesting to connect
to our Sanitary Sewer facilities.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, that this letter dated
September 22, 1958 be placed on file. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was received from Mrs. S.V. Swanson, 3943 VanBuren St.
reporting that cars are parked on the sidewalk at 40th & VanBuren
also asked what is going to be done with the alley back of theiz
home.
Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that this letter from Mrsl
Swanson, dated October 9th, be referred to the City Engineer and
Chief of Police. Roll Call - All Ayes.
First reading of Ordinance No.419, being an Ordinance on ~asolin~
octane advertising.
Resolution offered by Proft seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED
by the City~council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City
Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer from the
Liquor Fund as follows: 82,170.99 to the Fire Fund, and that there
are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer.

Resolution offered by Chies seconded by Julkowski, the City Coun
of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that WHEREAS, Sp
assessments for the following have been paid in full:

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the County Auditor be and he is he
authorized and directed to strike from the assessment rolls the

be ~ranted to non-resident employees to obtain residency in the City

Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, accepting the preliminary plans
from the Architects for a new Municipal Building. Roll Call - All Ayes.
The City Council agreed to meet Thursday, October 16th, at 9 p.m.
to discuss the overall budget.
Motion by King seconded by Proft, that a special hearing be set
for October 27th, for the purpose of adopting assessment rolls for
the following improvements, heretofore approved and construction

The City Engineer reported on alley opening between 5th & 6th from
45th to 46th, and that authorization on condemnations would be
needed. A resolution will be prepared for the next regular meeting.
R~solution offered by Chies seconded by Julkowski, BE IT HEREBY
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that
the City Attorney be authorized to proceed with the condemnation of
the West 30' of Lots 2 and 3 and the East 30 feet of Lots 4 and 5,
Block 16, Auditor's Subdivision of Walton's Sunny Acres Third,
'for street purposes. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A petition was received for alley paving An Block 65 between Jefferson
and Q~u~cy St.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Proft, that this petition be turned
over to the City Manager for tabulation. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A Petition was received from residents on Main Street between
37th and 43rd, to stop installation of the Highline by the N.S.P.
Company. Mmtion by Julkowski seconded by King, that this
Peition be placed on file dated October 13th, 1958.
This matter will be taken up at the special meetin~ Thursday
night, October 16th, and the engineer will have a representative
from N.S.P. present.
The alley behind 4801 - 6th Street was discussed and the City
Attorney wall check on this.
Mr. Getsu~ of Central Plaza was present and stated they were
willin~ to cooperate with Columbia Heights in every way possible
and were still interested in connectin~ to our sewer.
Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that a special meetin~ be held
on Thursday, October 16th at8 p.m. to discuss Hilltop Village.
Roll Call - All Ayes.
The matter of alley opening east of Upland Crest was brought up
and the Engineer stated this would probably not be done until
next year as there was considerable work to be done.
Motion by Kin~ seconded by Julkowski, that the meetin~ adjourn at
10:10 p.m. Roll Call - All Ayes.
