Secretary to City Councit OFFICIAL PROCEED/NGS Special Meeting August 13, 1958 Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. Roll Call - King, Julkowski, Proft - present. Chies, Stopka - absent. Mr. Julkowski presided as chairman. The purpose of the meeting tonight is to authorize the appointment~ of election judges for the primary election 9/9/58 & General election 11/4/58. Motion by Proft seconded by King, authorizing the appointment of election Judges as follows: First Precinct Mrs. Dorothy Tigue Mrs. Nellie Helm Mrs. Carol Lofgren Relief Judqes Mrs. Alpha Bisset Mrs. Pargaret Peterson Mrs. Henry Clements Second Precinct ~s. Kinnan Mrs. James Johnson ~11 Call - Ail Ayes. l~ne City Council recommends that we publicize the fact that this %~ork iS open to any registered voter in Columbia Heights. Phi application should be made to the City Clerk. Mr. JOhn Murzyn was present and informe~, the council that the lights in the bowling alley are obsolete and need replacing, and that there is sufficient money in the Al-ley Supply Fund to pay for new lights. Motion by King seconded by Proft, authorizing the City Manager to spend up to $650.00 from the Alley Supply Fund of the Parc Board for fluorescent lighting in the bowling alley. Ail members p~esent. First order of business - opening,of bids for surfacing Reservoir Blvd. Total bids were as follows: Barton Contracting Co. $75,202.71 Ray Sina $84,097.50 C.S. ~IcCrossan,Inc. 76,345.60 Jay W. Craig Co. 94,799.05 1,Iotion by Julkowski seconded by King, that th~se bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation. Roll Call - All Ayes. Engineer reported on alley between Polk & Buchanan from 37th to 39th, stating there are problems regarding drainage and the re-laying of part of the watermain in this alley. Motion by Chies seconded by Julkowski, setting an official public hearing on this alley at the September 8th meeting, and that all people concerned be notified. Roll Call - All Ayes. recess was called at 9 p.m. Reconvened at 9:10 p.m. ~. Shattuck informed the Council that definite information on recommended zoning would not be available until the week of September 15th. ~o recommendations are available at this time. Regarding the new municipal building the Council stated that S.C. Smiley & Associates should contact the Fire and Police department as to~utheir needs and that the Council would serve as a building committee.
