Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing. was held for Curb & Gutter on 45th Avenue from University to-'Washington. Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with the installation of this curb & gutter. Roll Call - All,Ayes. A Hearing was held for Curb & Gutter on 45th Avenue, South side from 2nd Street to University Ave. Motion by Chies seconded by Julkowski, that the City Manager be' authorized to proceed with the installation of this curb &-gutter, provided the City of Fridley install, curb & gutter on their side. Roll Call- All Ayes. A Hearing was held for Curb & Gutter for Monroe and Quincy Streets from 43rd to 44th Avenues. Motion by King seconded by Proft,.that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with the installation of this curb & gutter. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held for Curb & Gutter on 43rd Avenue, North side from Jackson'to VanBuren. Motion by Chies seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with the installation of this curb & gutter. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. A Hearing was held for Curb & Gutter on 43rd Avenue, McLeod ~o 400' West. Motion by Julkowski'sec~ded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with the installation of this curb & gutter. Roi1 Call - All Ayes. Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a Hearing ~n June 9th for Curb & Gutter on 43rd Avenue'East from Lot 44, Block 2, Reservoir Hills ~m and east from ~ Lot 5, Block 3, Reservoir Hills. Roi1 Call - Ail Ayes. A Hearing was held on Street Oil and Asphalt rolled edging on 46th Avenue from University to 7th Street. Motion by King seconded by Chies, that this hearing be tabled. Roll Call -Ail Ayes. MotiOn by King seconded by Julkowski, that a Hear%ng be set for June 9th on concrete curb & gutter for 46th Avenue from University to 7th Street. Ball call/?- AIl Ayes. A,~earing was held on street oil and~ephalt rolled ed~hgg in Mathaire Addition, due to the fact there will be considerable additional con- struction. Motion by Proft seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this improvement. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Hearing was held on rezoning Lot 30, Block 20, Roslyn Park to commercial. The City Manager was asked to draw up an Ordinance for this rezoning. A Hearing was held for Alley opening east of Upland Crest, south o~ Fairway Drive. A petition was received opposing this opening. The City Manager recommended opening up part of this alley with a turn around. Motion by Julkowski seconded by Proft, authorizing the City Manager to proceed with the necessary deeds for acquiring land for this turn about, subject to proper slope easements, etc. Roi1 Call -All Ayes. A Hearing was held for alley paving between 6th and 7th from 42nd to 43rd Avenue. Motion by King seconded by Chies, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with this alley paving. Second reading of Ordinance No.405, ' Rez6n~ng. part of Lot 13, Spains Addition to C.H. to commercial. Ordinance No.405 offered by King seconded by Proft. Mr. Joe Wargo spoke in behalf of the party who is asking 'for the rezonin~, and asked that the Council get Mr. ~hattuck'~ recommendation by the next meeting. ~otion by Chies seconded by King, that the state~en~ to the City Council dated May 26th, also the statement to the Planning & Zoning Commi~sion'da~ed.M~y 21st, be pla~ed on ~ile, regarding this rezoning. Roll Call - All Ayes. Petitions were received regarding. Ordinance No.403 rezg~ing, tp indus~rial'Lots'9 thru 20, and 40'thru 56'~Cloc~ 88]C2H. Annex, and Lots 22-thru 36, Block 84, C.H. Annex. Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies,'~hat this petitio~ be pla%ed on file. Roll Call - All Ayes. A ~equest was received for Sanitary sewer on Arthur between 42nd and 43rd. Motion by King seconded by Julk6wski, that the City ~an~ger be aUthorize to advertise a Hearing for June 9th for this sanitary sewer. Roll Call - All Ayes. The City Manager asked to be authorized to contact Minneapolis, requesting that they participate in the cost of sewer extensions necessitated by their large water mains in certain streets such as Arthur Street 42nd to 43rd. Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to contact Minneapolis regarding this matter. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Request was received from Lyndale Builders to extend watermain 1/2 block on University. Motion by Chics seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to proceed with a public watermain in lieu of private main on east side of University from 45th Avenue. Roll Call ~ AIl Ayes. The Engineer reported on Sidewalk west side of Jackson north of 39th Avenue, but no decision has been reached. The City Manager, City Engineer and interested residents will get together with Pek's and try to work out a solution. Motion by Proft seconded by Julkowski, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing for June 9th on vacating alley in Block 3, Sheffields 2nd SubdiVision. ROi1 Call - Ail ~yes. Motion by King seconded by Chics, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing for June 9th on 1958 street surfacing. Roll Call -Ail Ayes. R~solution offered by Chics seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by t~e city Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City of Fridley and the Bryan Rock Products Co., cease and desist from the blasting operations west of Main Street N.E., which are damaging residential buildings in the City of Columbia Heights. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Resolution offered by Proft seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that Madison Street N.E. from 49th to 50th Avenue; 49th and 50th Avenues from Monroe to Jefferson Street N.E., be finished as follows: 60' right-of-way and 30' pavement Pavement base: 4' stabilized per C.H. specifications Wearing Surface: 2' bituminous surface treatment per C.H. Specific. Curb & Gutter: Portland cement per C.H. Specifications. Street $Signs Standard metal signs at all intersections. That alleys in Blocks 1 & 2 Lyndale Builders Addition from 49th to 50thth Avenues to be finished as follows: 14' wide and surfaced as per specifications of C.H. Provided costs of said improvements are financed by the developer of this area, by placing of funds in escrow. Ail work to be completed by August 1959, weather permitting. ROi1 Call -Ail Ayes. Reinhart as D~rec~or of Civil Defense. Resolutibn offered by Proft seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights,'that t~e City Council desires to officially Commend'you, Mr. Walter Reinhart for the fine job y6u have done for our'community in your work with the Civil Defense Organization as a member ~nd Director. Motion by King seconded by Proft, that the Notice from the Railroad and ?;arehouse Commission ~egarding a meeting to be held'Tuesday morning,.May 27th on Bus fares, be placed on file. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that the report from the Village of Edina regarding the Suburban Gas. US~r~ Association, be placed on file. Roll Call - All Ayes. The City Manager reported regard%ng 3937 Polk Street, and the City Council felt this should be tabied to allow them an opportunity to see the premises pers6nally.
