Johnson St. to live in their basement home. She was informed this
extension cannot be renewed.

A Hearing was held for Sidewalk on west side of 7th Street from 51st
to 52nd. Motion by King seconded by Chics, that the City M~nager
be authorized to proceed with this improvement. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A Hearing was held for Sanitary Sewer on Tyler Street from 46th to 47th.

the engineer get more information on this improvement and report back

A petition was received for alley opening between Tyler and Central

A Petition was received opposing the install*tion of a watermain
on Universitybetween 44th and 45th.
Motion by King seconded by Chies, that the action taken at the last
meeting authorizing the installatiin of a watermain on University
between 44th and 45th, be recinded. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that Lyndale Builders be
granted permission to install a private water line to serve Lots
22 thru 25, Block 20, C.H. Annex, upon payment of the proper fee.

43rd Avenue - McLeod to 400 feet west.
Propose bituminous rolled edge and oiling in lieu o~ curb and mat.on

Treasurer of 830,000.00 Emergency Debt Certificate. Offered by King

The City Attorney reported he had talked with Mr. Lange regarding.
complaint against Lange Welding Co. premises, and in his opinion
there ~s little we can do legally except talk to Mr. Lange and get
his cooperation to clean up, as this is zoned industrial. Mr. Lange
had indicated willingness to clean up and make it more presentable.
This matter will be brought up for discussion at the June meeting.
The City ~ttorney reported on his investigation off,he court records
regarding trucking operations by Westman on 2nd Street, and he was
found in violation of the Ordinance and fined, and fine was suspended.
This willbe coming up in court again on May 15th, or as soon there-
after as possible.
A letter was received from the Activities committee, asking per~ission
to hold the annual celebration, which is to be called the "Columbia
Heights Jamboree-Salute to Centennial' this year, on June 20,21 & 22,
also permission to operate a Bingo Stand.
Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that these requests be granted.

Resulution offered by Julkowski seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED
by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City
Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer from the Liquor
Fund as follows: $5,063.63 to the Police & Court Fund
3,564.73 to the Fire "
7,294.41 to the Street "
1,587.90 to the Park "
370.29 ~o the Library '
and that there are sufficient moneys in said liquor fund to make such

Resolution offered by Chies seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED
by the City Council of the City of Columbia F~ights, ,that the City
Asphalt Distributor be classified as heavy duty equipment, and that
~this rate shall prevail during the construction season when the
vehicle is used for asphalt distributing. ROi1 Call - All Ayes.
Resolution offered by King seconded by Proft, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED
by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that in accordance
with Chapter 3, Section 16, of the CHARTER of the City of Columbia
Heights, .the City Council shall hold one regular meeting per month
during the months of June, July and August, sa~d meeting to be
held at 8 p.m. on the second Monday of each of these months,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Treasurer be authorized
and directed to pay all standard utility and similar bills as they come

attending the League of Minnesota Municipalities Convention to be
held in Minneapolis June 10,11 & 12, 1958. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
A request was received for a private waterline to serve 4516 Monroe
Street. Motion by King seconded by Chies, that this request
be granted upon payment ofmthe proper fee. Roll Call -Ail Ayes.
The Mayor suggested establishing an Industrial Commission.to promote
industry and commercial expansion in Columbia Heights.
The City Manager announced mosquito control would move into
· Columbia Heights May 13th.
John Nordin was present and asked that Lot 30, Block 20, Roslyn
Park be rezoned to commercial.
Motion by Chies seconded by Proft, that the City M~nager be authorized
to advertise a hearing.on this rezoning at the May 26th meeting.

The City Engineer reported regarding the need for street surfacing
and curb installation in Mathaire addition.
MOtion by King seconded by Julkowski, that the City Manager be
authorized to advertise a Hearing on May 26th for th~se improvements

A request was made for an alley in Hilltop Addition, east of Upland
Crest. Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, that the City Manager
be authorize~ to advertise a hearing on June 9th for this proposed
alley, and contact Mr. Wilkinson to see if~e will deed the necessary
