A Hearing;wa~ held for sanitary sewer on Tyler Street 44-44~ and
University Avenue 43-45.
M~tion by King seconded by Proft, that the hearing on University
43-45 be continued ~til the next meeting. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by King seconded by~Chies, thata Heating be held for Sanitary
Sewer on East side of University, 40-43 at the May 12th meeting.
Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, that the City Manager be
authorized to advertise for bids for Sanitary Sewer on Tyler Street
44-44½. Roll Call - All Lyes.
A Hearing was held for Watermain on East side of University 44-45.
Mo~ion by Julkowski seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized
to advertise ~for bids on this watermain. Roll Call - ~11 Ayes.
Additiona~ extensions of utilities east of Central along 46th Avenue.
M~tion by Proft seconded by Julkowski, that a hearing be set for May
12th, for Sanitary Sewer and Water on Tyler between 46th & 47th and
Sanitary Sewer on Central 45½ to 46. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Regarding the request of D.D. Dahl for black top streets and
curbs in Mathaire, .the City Manager was asked to check on agreement
with Mr . Dahl and report at the next meeting.
A Petition was received for sidewalk on west side of 7th Street from
51st to 52nd.
Motion by King seconded by Chies, that a Hearing be held on this
sidewalk at the May 12th meeting. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by Proft seconded by King, that the City Manager and Mayor
be authorized to execute a lease for the Library. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
The City Manager reported on the investigation made regarding the
complaint received against Lange Welding Co. Reports were received
from the Health and Fire Department. The City Attorney stated he
would talk to Mr. Lange and try to straighten this out, and that he
woudl give a report on this at the next meeting.
The Railroad & Warehouse Commission are holding a meeting April 29th,
at 9=30 a.m. regarding the requeHt for increased fares by the Twin
City Rapid Transit Co., amd availablel.officials~fnvited qto attend.
The City Manager reported he had written the City of Minneapolis
asking them to extend their maintenance of 37thAvenue and they
had replied agreeing to extend their maintenance to Polk Street.
A letter was received from the Supt. of Pakks asking that the
Council authorize the Park Board to spend up to 81,000.00 for
earth moving on park properties, to be taken out of the park
improvement fund.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, that'the Park Supt. be
authorized to spend up to $1,000.00 for earth moving out of the
park improvement fund. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
A letter was received from Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Tabaka, 4206 VanBuren
St.N.E. regarding alley maintenance and grade.
Motion by King seconded by Proft, that this letter dated April 17th,
be referred to the City Manager. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
M~tion by King seconded by Chies, that Mxxx~~kwe enter into
a contract with Mr. Shattuck as Planning Consultant at $3300.00.

The City Manager reported a letter had been received from Stanton,
Pittlekow, Bann & Associates, regarding a Wage-Salary & Fringe Benefit
Survey for Suburban Municipalities in Twin City' Area.
No action was taken by the Council on this.
A letter and notice was received from the City of Minneapolis
regarding storm drainage entering Minneapolis at 37th and 5th St.
and recommending that Columbia Heights take ~he necessary steps
to intercept such storm waters by a storm drain~age system, within
the City of Columbia Heights. ~ study on the various storm
drainage problems ~k .k~x throughout the city wall be made. ~.~ ?~

The Mayor stated he would like to appoint Edward Doberstein,
3855 Reservoir Blvd. to the Police Civil Service Commission.to
replace Stanley Zdon.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, confirming this appointment.
Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Complaints were again received against trucking business operating
at 3712 2nd Street by Adolph Westman. This will be checked into
further,by our City Attorney to find out the court action.
A dinner invitation was extended by John Nordin to the Mayor and
Councilmen on May 7th at 6:30 p.m. at Sandees, in regard to street
integration between Northern communities.
The City Manager was asked to prepare a resolution ~roviding for
only one regular council meeting during the months of June,July
and August. .
Mrs. Jonak, 3929 Johnson Street was present and protested the six
month extension gra~ted by the P1A~mi~g & Zoning Commission to 3941
Johnson St. to live in their basement home. She was informed this
extension cannot be renewed.
