Roll Call - Ail Ayes Resolution offered by Julkowski seconded by King, BE IT HEREBY ~ESGLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the City treasurer be and she is hereby authorized t~ purchase $i50,000.00 worth of Certificates of Deposits in $25,000.00 denominations frc~ the Sinking Fund of the. Las part of Local Improvement No.262; amd, WHE~, the above described property was not benefitted by said improvement No.262; BE IT THE~OEE ~ESGLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to strike fr~ Local Improvement No.262, the curb and gutter assessment (amount)of 1957 levy - $3.22) levied against Lot 6 (exc. BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of thee City of Columbia Heights, that the Police Department of the City of Columbia Heights be authorized to establish a fund for benevolent pUrPoses, said fund to be composed of monies received by the Police Department for the · serving of legal processes, in au amount not to_exceed $250.00; aud. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an anaual accounting of said funds to be made to the City ~easurer of the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota. Roll Call - All Ayes. The City Manager informed the Council that ~r. Bob Johnson's Secret~ry had stated e~rlier that day, that copies of ~r. Johnson's report had been sent and should be available very shortly. Regarding a comprehensive planning program for Columbia Heights, ~r. James Hawkes, of the firm of Carl L. Gardner & Associates, , Thorshov & Cero~,Inc. w~s present and outlined briefly their methods oz~ h~ndling metropolitan planning and zoning, such ~s proposed by ~&r'. Shattuck. The Council felt that. a short delay at this time would be advisable to investigate the proposal of ~..H~wks before m~king a final decision. Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that the City ~nager be authorized to advertise for ~ids for Dog Catcher for 1958, Bids for Legal Publications and removal of. old ~ter tower. Roll Call - All Ayes Resolution offered by Chics seconded by Ki.ng, BE IT HEREBY P~SOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that the employees of the Municipal Liquor Store who qualify for Health and ~Yelfare benefits, shall be graut?__~as enumerated said benefits _in 195.8 in lieu of a portion of their salary adjustment~to ~the by the City extent of $5.50 per month, or the equivalent thereof. Motion by Chies seconded by King, that a comprehensive audit be made of the City Books for 1956 and 1957 by the State Public Examiners. Roll Call - All Ayes. I Motion by ¥~ng seconded by Julkowski, authorizing the City .Manager ~o proceed ~rith private phone inst~ll~tion for Volunteer Firemen, ~s proposed by the Telephone Company. ~? Dencker made recommendations regarding what ~m should require in regard. to road surfacing in Mmthaire Addition, also curb .anti.gutter. Roll Call - All Ayes. A letter was received from Hilltop Village regarding Police Protection. The City ~anager was asked to have something prepared regarding what other cmmaunities charge for similar service. B~solution offered by Chies seconded by King, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights HEREBY RESOLVES that the Columbia Heights State Bank, be hereby designated as a depository for moneys of the City of Columbia Heights for a period of~ one year beginning the 1st day of Janumry 1958, aud the Treasurer of this City is hereby directed to deposit moneys of this City n said bank and the Columbia Heights State Bank, is ,hereby authorized and directed to hon~r and pay any'checks or orders, when signed by the City Treasurer, for the withdrawal or transfer of funds on deposit in said Bank in khatever form. BE IT FURTHER EE~. GLVED, that in case s.uch deposits shall at any time exceed Ten Thousand ($10, 000. 00 ) Dollars, said depository shall ~mmediately furnish bond or 'securities in lieu of bond according to law, and the MarQuette National Bank is hereby designated as .a place for the safe-keeping of all securities furnished in lieu of such bond.
