A representative of the Telephon~ Company was present an~ explained a telephone
service for the Fire Department, ~fnereby volunteer,s telephones would be
hooked ~p with the Fire Station,
A public hearing ~ms held for concrete curb on south side of 53rd Avenue, between
6th and 7th Streets.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by Chies, authorizing the City Manager to proceed
with this installation of concrete curb. Roll Call - All Ayes.
First reading of Ordinance No.392, re-zoning to commercial! Lots 16 through 30
inclusive,Block 5 and Lots 16 through aud including the S.~ of Lot 28, Block 4,
Roslyn Park.
First reading of Ordinance No.393, re-zoning to multiple dwe~lLug, Lots 5 and 6,
Block 69, Columbia Heights Annex.
Two letters were received from I~r. & ~s. Westerdah!, 3836 Stinson Blvd. asking
that a street light be installed near their home. This was referred to the City
~ngineer for investigation.
A letter was received from M.J. Drinville, 4005 Hayes Street, stating he
does not want' curb on east side o.f Ha~es between 4Otb & 41st ~ d wants his
name withdrawn from the Petition.
Motion by King seconded by Julkowski, that this letter from M.J. Drinv~lla,
be?..t~m~med over to the Cit~ ~anager for ,further s.tud~. RoLl Call - ALl Ayes.
A letter was received from Carl O. Wegner, attorney for' R.L. Ernest, asking
that Mr. Ernest be paid up to October 14, 1957.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by .Chios, that this letter be p.laced on file.

A letter was received from Chester Holms. from, ;:;!l I: Tyler Street, asking' to
connect a private watermain to this address.
Motion by Julkowski seconded by King, authorizing permission to Chester
Holmstrom, 4;;1~! ~Tyler Street, to connect to a private watermain upon
payment of the proper fee. Roll C~ll - All Ayes.
A claim ~as received from W~ce Peterson, 1010 - 40th Avenue in the amount
of $~0.00 for damage to his basement by sewer backing up.
Mo$ion by ~_~h~ seconded by Chios, that this claim be turned over to the
City Attorney. Roll C~ - Ail A~es.
Resolution offered by Julkowski seconded by Chios, The City Council of 'the
City of Columbia Heights, hereby resolves, That the(.Park Board of the City
of Columbia Heights, be authorized to spend up to $1,000.00 for earth moving
on park properties, said expenditure to be made from the alley maintenance

City of Columbia Heights, HEREBY EESOLVE~ that the salary for the Policeman
on duty at Field House activities, where ~uch supervision is required, s~l:

Resolution offered by Chios seconded by King, The City Council of the City of
Columbia Heights, KER~Y RESOLVES, that the Park Board be directed to charge
ah additional $5.00 per rental time on the Field House on activities where a
policeman must be on duty, and that the Superintendent of Parks be a~ected to
bill ~1 parties presently contracting for future usage, this additional $5.00

· of Oolumbia_ Heights hereby resolves, that ~{EEEAS, 3pecial assessments for
E'ly. 50 ft.of Lot 41, Block 1, Reservoir Hills,Addition on Job No. 20§ in the
amount of $19e00, also W'ly~ 60 ft. of Lo~ 41, Block 1~ Reservoir HiLls Addition
on Job No.208 in the amount of $22e80 have been paid in f,,]~;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized
and ~ecSed to strike from the assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments.

of Columbia Heights, HEREBY EESOLVES, that the City Manager contract for the
installation of. self storing storm windows on the Field House, provided the
cost wi]_l not exceed $900.00. Roll Call - All Ayes.

Motion by Chies seconded by King, that R.D. Thomas & Associates,Inc. be paid

Motion by King seconded by Julkowski~ that a special meeting be ~set for 6:30
p.m. Wednesday, October 30th, regarding the Budget for 1958. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
A letter was received from Stanley Tabaka, 4206 VanBuren Street N.E. regarding
grade of alley in back of his lot.

Mr. Watson ~s asked to try and ~rrange a meeting with the Highway Department
and the City of Fridley, on Thursday, Nove~ber ~4th, 1957, regarding the
University Avenue Storm Drain.

The purpose of this meeting tonight is to adopt the budget for 1958.
Resolution offered by Ehies seconded by King, ~E~REAS, the City Council of the
City of C ol~mbia Heights has'at various times met for the purpose of discussing
the budget for the year 1958; and,
WHERE~S, the City Council has determined that the follov~ng amounts of the
budget be raised by taxation;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the County Auditor of Anoka County
be and he is hereby instructed aud authorized to levy the following amounts
for the year 1958 for various city funds as follows~
