A claim was received from Lillian C. Watford for injuries. Motion by Julkowski seconded by Knutson, that this claim be referred to the City Atto~rney. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Petition was received for Sanitary Sewer on Jefferson Street from 45th to 46th. Motion by Hosch seconded by Julkowski, that a'Hearingbe set for February 26th, 1957 for this improvement. He pointed out that the concrete around the base of the tank has puPl.led away and that this for~s a ~.~ter trap w~hich cculd cause serious rusting mud pittir~. This concrete should, be removed and the entire tar~ ahell exposed to the air. Albert Kordiak, County Commissioner Was present~ and reported on sever-gl items. He recommended that the City declare ~ th Avenue as a through Street. ~The City ~nager ~s asked to contact our Police Chief regarding this. He reported on the ~atter of dumping in the Town, ship ~area which ~¢e had ~,~ote the County about, and stated this ~rllI be tsken care of very shortly. ~ ~!bO0.00 He stated Columbia Heights would'shortly receive aoproximately ~ ~ for 1955,1956 and 1957, as reimbursement for maintenance of County Roads and streets in Columbia Heights. The Council recently had asked the County to assume a larger oortion of street maintena~.ce. A. H?aring was held on Sanitary Sewer for Jefferson Street from 45th to 46th Avenue. The City Engineer reported tl~is could be made a portion of the project which was a~p~p~ovSd last ~eeting, but that water should also be considered ~or this Street. Mot_on by Holm seconded by Hosch~ that the Sanitary Sewer hearing for Jefferson Street ~from 45th to 46th, be continued until the next meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motiin by Hosch seconded by HoE, that the City Manager be ~authorized to advertise a Hearing on March 12th~ 1957, for this Storm drain. Roll Call - All Ayes. The Engineer reported on improvements that shovld be made to the City Shop. Motion by Hosch seconded by J~,lkowski, that the City Ma. nager be authorized to proceed with modification of City Shop. , Roll Cal~ - Ail Ayes. A Petition ~as received for sidewalk on east side of 4th Street from 52nd to 53rd Avenue N.E. The City Engineer was asked to see about get. ting a Petition from west side also~. A Petition was received for concrete curb ahd 'asphalt mat on 7th Street between. 4.9th and 50th. The Council agreed .to hold this up until the Engineer can investigate this further. , A Petition was received for Sanitary Sewer and water on East side of Central from 47th to 49th. Motion by Holm seconded by Knutson, t~at a Hearing be held on March 12th, for this improvement. Roll Call - All Ayes. A request was received to connect to water and sewer line on 45th Avenue. to serve lots 26 and 27, Block 20, Columbia Heights Annex. The Council decided to hold this until a later date. A request was redeived to purchase part of Lot 17, Block 2, Silver Lake Addition. The City Engineerwas asked to have a regiatered land survey made to establish the exact location of the extension of Benjamin Street to Stinson Blvd. across lots 15,16 and 17 of Block 2, Silver Lake Addition. After the location of the street is definitely established, the City Manager was authorized to negotiate the sale of the city owned property to the southwest of Benjamin Street extended, A request was received for street light and sign at 42ndAvenue and Arthur St. also'at 47th and 48th Avenues and 4th Street. ' The City Engineer was asked'to check the area ~ndmake ~eco~mendations where lights ame needed.
