OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS Special Meeting August 7th, 1945 A special meeting of the Council was held for the purpose of obtaining a ruling from the Attorney-General on the acting city attorney. The meeting ~as called to order at 8:~0 P.M. All members present. Discussion. Notion by Jackson, seconded by Spelo3.1ant, that .the secretary be instructed to write a letter to the Attorney-General (said letter to ~e tsken by Mr. Nordin to Attorney-Gen- eral~s office) giving facts relating to apoointment of Gordon Peterson as acting City Attorney, stating that ~r. Sheridan of the Veterans of Foreign ':Jars appeared before the meeting re- questing the Council's permission for the organization to hold Bingo games weekly at the Fleldhouse. ~.'.otion by Spekulant, seconded by Lathrop, that permission be granted to the Veterans of Foreign '.t'ars to hold Bingoj games every :'~'eek on Friday or Saturday at the Fieldhouse. Moll Call -,Ill ayes. Several petitions were presented to the Council protesting the granting of an on Sale liquor license to any club or night club in the City of Columbia Heights. ~:rs. B. T. Russell and J. F. Geronsin and other residents ap?ear- ed before the Council, supporting said petition, i~r. Fran~: '?,'arner, attorney, spoke in the behalf of ~r. Atone, who h~s made application for a Club Om Sale liquor license for the Hilltop Golf Club. ~,~otion by Jackson, seconded by Spekulant, that the petitions against the granting of Club On Sale liquor license be placed on file.
