The meeting was called to order at 8:20 r'.~. ~1I members present. The
minutes of the previous meeting were read and approveg.

ized to make a cost estimate on proposed tile- installation and advertise

Resident of 4400 Seventh St., IV. E- made inquiry regarding the construction-
of a retaining wall along' his property on. 44th Av~.; stated that he, under-
stood that. City' would construct' such wall. Council advised that it would
be' ~eeessary to cheek into the matter to determine if the project would
be the City's responsibility. (Need for wa-Il caused by wid:ening of
4~tk Ave.]
Otto i,.~oe r~qu~sted' that the date of cancellation, of his On and Off' sale.
beer licenses he c-hanged from'~ffay ls% to Xpril !6th.

Fred Spoor appeared before: the. CounciI protesting the fagot that he had:
been fired ~s~:hartender at the ~3unicipal Liquor Store and' wished to know
th~ reason:, Council started ~%t no ~-eport had been ma6e to th%m on the
matte, r, therefore they' could/advise ~Ir. Spoor of the reason for his dis-
missal at the pre. sent time.,
~,~r. Hogan, pr'asen.t at. the meeting, brought the Council's attention to the:
fact that the hydrant located at 4Ist and~ Tyler St. was situated very low;
City ~,~Ianager advised him that said hydrant, together with others in a like
position, are to be raised.

Letter X'rom Chic1' of Police Cottrell read requesting the Council's consid-
eration in the matter oi' liability protection for the City and drivers o~
City-owned equipment. Also rea~ was a communication from Quincy Haas inc.
regarding Public Liability and ~roperty Damage insurance to cover City-
~wned cars and equip:::ent;Qrates on same quoted). Discussion.

to a~vertise for bids for full coverage rroperty Damage and Public Liability

Discussion on appointment of Fire Dept. Civil Service Commission.
City I~bnager reported a request from the ~lanning Co~mission that the
Council appoiut a co:~;mittee to meet with the Commission to revise the
Builoing Code. City ~lanager requested that Council consider possible
members for such committee by next meeting.

i,.~otion by Nygaard, seconded by Bentzen, that Helen Chudek be paid a week's
salary in consideration of her supervision oi' the Liquor Store from I~arch
lst-10th (as per City ~..'anager's recommendation). Roll Call - All ayes.
.~ hearing was held for those property owners benefitted by the follo~,'ing
local improvements:
Job #ll7 - "atermain on Cleveland St. from 41st Ave. to a point
5.00 ft. North thereof.
Job .~118 - Extension of watermain on .2tinson Blvd. from 42nd Ave.
to a point approx. 320 ft. North thereof.
Wesidents with property abutting the.above listed projects ~ere present at
the meeting. Hearing no objections to said improvements, the Council
passed the following resolutions.
Wesolution offered by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard. A resolution adopting
the .assessment roll for Local Improvement ,:ill7 and determining that said
· mprovement be made and ratifying and conI'irming all other proceedings here-

A meeting of the City Council and the business men was held at the City Office on
Thursday evening, Aoril 12th, at 8:00 P. M. as scheduled. Program for traffic regu-
lation, stressing off-street parking, as set forth in Chief Cottrell's reoort was
presented at the meeting. Subseouent discussion and aoorowl of the recommendations
by those oresent at the meeting.
