Fire Chief Schwartz and Mitch DeMars, representing a committee of the Fire Department,
were present, at the meeting in regards to the recommendation of the Police Chief that
the Police Dep't. and the Fire Dep't. be housed in one building. The Fire Dept.
committee was opposed to the plan under the present building set-up; stated that there
wouldn't be enough room for both departments. Chief Cottrell assured them that hi~
suggestion was made with an idea to enlarging the present building.
Mayor suggested that Police Chief make a list of his recommendations of changes in
the $.2 beer ordinance and present them to the Council at the next regular meeting.
Mr. Jackson brought up the question of lowering the level of Jackson Pond. He had been
approached by Elmer Bay on the matter.
Motion by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard, that meeting be adjourned.

Stanley F. ~-eskie, manager of the ~Junicipal Liquor Store, submitte~ a
written request for a leave oi~ absence due to ill-health - said leave
not to exceed six months -and when his health is re-gained, reinstate-
ment to the position he held before becoming manager of the liquor store.

· HEREAS This Council did heretofore by resolution duly adopted and oassed by four-
fifths of its members determine to m-ke such irmorovement. NOV THEREFORE, BE IT THERE-
FORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, Anoka County,
Minnesota, as follows: (1) That the Council here~ determines that the ~ro~erty des-

(2) That this Council will meet on the 10th day of April, 194.5 a~ eight o'clock P. M.

minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with the following
correction noted: that petition for tile connection to the sewer at
37th Ave. and Tyler ~t. N. E. be changed to read "connected to the Spls.
sanitary se~:~er" ~nstead of the [;~ty's storm sewer.
I~[r. Ho].lopeter appeared be~or= '~e ~unczl with a request for the instal-
lation oil sewer on Pleyes St. between 40th and 41st Aves. He was ad-
vised that a petition signed by the property owners in that block should
be submitted for the Council's consideration, when the re~ort of the sewer
engineers' survey is' on hand.
