Treasurer be authorized and instructed to transfe- the sum of Fifty
Cents from. the Sewer Fund to the Fire Fund, to reimburse the Fire Fund
for equipment repairs. Roll Call -All ayes.
Resolution offered by Jackson, seconded by Spekulant, that the City
Treasurer be authorized and instructed to transfer the sum of $9~.75
from the Police Fund to the Fire Fund to reimburse the Fire Fund for

Treasurer be authorized and instructed to transfer the sum of ~I5.75
from the ~treet Fund to the Fzre Fund to reimburse the Fire Fund for
equipment repairs. Roll Call - All ayes.
Resolution offered by Nygaard, seconded by S?ekulant. WHEREAS a bill to
allocate to municipalities and counties forty (40~) percent of the gross
earnings taxes is nor before both Houses of the Einnesota State Legisla-
ture; AND ~~S the City Council of Columbia Heights feels that such
enactment would be to the best interest of counties and municipalities;
BE iT HEREB~ RESoLV~D by the City Council of Columbia Heights that the
Council endorses the proposal and urges the passage of aforesaid bill.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to
Senator Ledin, Representative G. C. 2eterson and to the c~irmen of the
Senate and the House Tax Committees. Roll Call - All ayes.
R~esolution offered by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard. U~L~REAS the League
of Minnesota ~.~unicipalities, through its Legislative Committee, has
presented to the Legislature a proposal that all political subdivisions
of thru State be exempted from paying the State gasoline and special-use
fuel tax; AND ',¥HER~AS, the Council feels that the payment of said tax
is unjust and not in conformity with other tax regulations for munici-
palit-ies, etc.; BE iT HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of Columbia
Heights endorses the League's proposal that favors the passage of such
legislation. BE iT ~'URTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
sent ~to Senator Leein, Respresentativs G. C. Feterson and to the chair-
men of the Senate and the House Tax Committees. Roll Call - Ail ayes.

appointed to serve on the Police Civil Service Commission for a term
of three years, such term to expire April 84, 1947. Woll Call -All ayes.

gaged to audit the City's records. Moll Call - All ayes.

HcLaughlin Co. until a~'ter next meeting and that City Eanager be instruc-
ted to request ~lr. ]~cLaughlin to appear at such meeting. Roll Call -

Spec.ial meeting set for Tuesday, I~larch 6th, to consider the Police Report.
Union contract for bartenders and waitresses at Liquor Store submitted
for %he Council's consideration.
?eso~ution offered hy Jackson, seconded by Nygaard. BE IT HEREBY RESuLVED
by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights duly asseubled this
ETth. day of February, 1945 that we accept the working agreement cOntract
made and entered into the 4th day of Dec. , 1944 by and between the Hotel
and Restaurant Employees, International Alliance and Bartenders Inter-
national League of America party of the first part and the On-Sale Liquor
Dealers of ~,'~inneapolis Inc. party of the second part. That said agree-
ment and the Conditions thereof shall govern v~rking conditions and ~.~ages
for regular and extra employees of the Eunicipal Liquor Store who are
members in good standing in Bartenders Union Local No. 1SE, Hotel and
Restaurant Employees' Union 458, and ~iscellaneous r;orkers Union Local
No. 665. Said aforementioned agreement shall be retroactive to December
4, 1944. Moll Call - All ayes.
