A special meeting of the Council was called for the purpose of discussing the budget,
Meeting called to order at 7:40 P.M. All members present.
Motion by Nygaard, seconded by Soekulant, ttmt Doreen Sing?r's salary bill be paid out
of the Liouor Fund. Roll Call - All ayes.
Discussion of the budget.
Motion by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard, that meeting be adjourned.

Regular Meeting
September 26th, 1944
The meeting was called to order at 8:15 PM. All members present. Minutes of the
orevious meeting, read and aporoved.
A petition was received to grade and tarvia the alley in Block 55. A Motion was
made by Jackson and seconded by Nygaard to turn this over to Mr. 01sson for in-
vestigation. Roll Call - All ~yes.
A Letter was read from Hitchcock & Estabrook, Inc., Consulting Engineers asking for
a ~lanket Contract for Emgineering Work. A motion was m~e by Bentzen and seconded
by Spekulant to place this letter on file for further reference. Roll call - All Ayes
A ~ Resolution was read to the City 0ou~il that the Fidelity State ~ank be designated
as an Official depository of Funds for the City .of Col~mbia Heights for the period
be,Einning Oct. 1st, 1944 and continuing until Dec. 31st, 1945 and that,.the said
Fi~delit~.'State Bank shall furnish to the City of Columbia, Heights such bonds of
Collateral for security of monies deposited there as are reouired by Macon's Minnesota
Statutes Vol~ne S Section 197~-1 and laws amendo.tory thereto.
A motion was made by Nygaard and seconded by Jackson to acc~ot this Resolution. Roll
call - All Ayes
A Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Minneapolis was read whereby they would
furnish us with Radio Equipment for our Police a~d Fire Cars on a yearly basis of
$~50.00. An allowa~6e on our old equipmant would apply ag&inst our first ~ears charge.
A motion was ~de by Jackson and seconded by l~gaard that we accept this contract with
~inneapolis subje~ to City Attorney's ~ooroval. Roll C~l - All Ayes.

Motion by Spekulant, seconded by Nygaard, nominating Bentzen to act as chairmsn of
the meeting. Roll C~.ll - All ayes.
~otion by Jackson, seconded by S~ekulant, that the reouest for permit to hold the
Homecoming Dance October 13, 1944 at the High School be granted and the fees waived.

Discussion of budget.
SuBject of over-time for members of police force considered. Chief Cottrell aopeared
before the Council explaining details and complexities of the department routine,
which in his ooinion constituted a need for an additional man on the force. Discussion.
Park Board appeared before Council and presented revised oark budget for Council's
consideration. Discussion.
