A soecial meetinE of the City Council was held Tuesday, June 20th - meeting called to
order at 8:40 P. N. All members oresent. This meeting was called to provide hearing
for those property owners benefitted by the following local i~rovements:
Job ~ll0 - Surfacing on $Sth Ave. from 5th St.' to the east line of Lot S9 Blk.-84;
also on Nadison Place from S?th to SSth Ave.
~108 - Surfacing on Lookout Place from 5th~St. to 40th Ave.
~109 - Surfacing on Tyler St. from Sgth to~Alst Aves.
~lll - Surfacing on Quincy St. from S?th to Sgth Ave.; also on SSth Ave. from
Quincy St. to west 'lot line of Lot S Block 88.
" ~ll2 - Surfacing on Quincy st. from a point 9.8 north of south lot line of
Lot 9 Block 85 to 40th Ave.
~llS - Surfacing on 5th St. from 44th to ~Sth Ave.

Residents of 38th Ave. were present at the hearing., recuesting to know the extent of
improvement on 38th Ave. and that street be graded before being surfaced. They were
assured that this would be done.
Mr. Johnson of 3854 Van Buren St. N. E. appeared before the Council and reauested that
a drain be made from his lot to the storm sewer on 39th and Van Buren. He stated that
the street drain doesn't take care of the water and the overflow washes into his lot.
City Manager instructed to check grade of lot and determine best procedure to follow.
Mr. Matusovic, 1107 - 42nd Ave. a~oeared before Council stating that drain on 42nd Ave.
is being blocked repeatedly, causing water to back uo on his oror~erty. He asked per-
mission of the Council to out in fill along the edge of his oroDerty in or~er to dive~
the water from his nlace, so that he may gradually fill in the balance of his lots.
Council decided to go and view the situation some evening before granting such Oermission.
Residents of 43rd Ave., Just west of Central Ave., aooeared before the Council, protesting
damage done to their property as a result of water from recent heavy rains coursing
down 43rd Ave. A~aper signed by property owners in the vicinity stating action to be
taken for such water removal was ~laced before the Council. Discussion.
Motion by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard, that said caner for declaration) be placed on
file. Roll Call - All ayes.

on 43rd Ave. west of Central, figuring cost of same, and reoort to the Council at the
next regular meeting. Roll Call - Ail a~ves.
Motion by Nygaard, seconded by Jackson, that the bill for Ed Phillips and Sons ¢o. in the
amount of $156§.71 be allowed out of the Llouor Fund. Roll Call - All ayes.
Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Spekulant, that the following Judge of election be apoointed
for the 1st precinct - Mrs. Dorothy Tigue - and that the City Manager obtain two more
Judges for said precinct. Roll Call - Ail ayes.
Motion by Nygasrd, seconded by 2entzen, that the following Judges of election be appointed
for the 2nd precinct and that they appoint their clerks from the rest of the applications.
Roll Call - Ail ayes. Mary Tamm, Grace Lombard, Clara Reinhart.

Mayor
