All members present' regular and special meetingsread and approved. Minutes of the previous Application for ~icense of Heights Taxi-cab Service considered. J. E. ~oodruff appeared before the Council in this regard and stated advantages of such a service in the com- munity. Subsequent discussion. Motion by Jackson, seconded.by Nygaard, that a simplified ordinance be drawn Up regulat- ing the licensing and operation of taxi-cabs in the City of Columbia Heights; said ordinance to be presented at the next regular meeting. Motion by N yga~rd, seconded by Jackson, that the application for license of the Heights Taxi-cab Service be granted, subject to the rules and regulations of the pro- Dosed ordinance. Roll 0all - All ayes. The applications of the.Civic Improvement Association and the Columbia Heights Fire Deo't. to sponsor the 1944 Annual Festival brought before the Council for consider- ation. Ray Pritchard, ~epresenting the Civic Improvement Ass'ri. and members of the Jubilee Committee of the Fir8 Deo't. appeared before the~Council in this regard. Mr. Pritchard stated that the Civic Improvement Ass'n. would aid the Fire Dep't. in every w~j to make the Jubilee a success, and that the Civic I~orovement Ass~n. wished to withdraw its application in favor of the Fire DepOt. Notion by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard, that the Columbi~ Hei~ht2,~ir~e ~e~t~..be granted permission to sponsor the !9~4 Fall Festival. !{o££ ua!l - Ali ayes. Communication from the Northern States Power Co. read reeuesting permission to install one power pole on Johnson St..N.E. between 37th and $Sth Aves. Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Spekulant, that the r~.tter be turned over to the City Manager for checking and that he contact the Northern States Power Co. and the owner of property for whom pole is to be installed and report findings at the next meeting. Roll Call - All ayes. Notion by Bentzen, secoEded by Spekulant, that check ~1669 in the amount of $$.~5, payable to Art's Repair Shop - 1915 -~lSth Ave. So. Roll Call - All ayes. Jim McOann appeared before the Council in regards to the establis~uent of a ration board 'in the City of Col=nbia Heights. Subsec~ent discussion. Motion by Jackson, seconded by Bentzen, t~t the City [.~nazer and City Attorney and such members of the Council as are able to go,contact L~r. ~ilden, district head of 0.P.A. to ineuire into possibility of establishiag a ration board for Col,mubia Heizhts located in this City.
