Minutes of the orevious meeting read a~d approved. - - Bids~for gasoline for the City for one year beginning March l, 1944were opened. 1. Rocket 0il Co. - at ($.189)'existing tank wagon price~ 2. Heights Service Station at(.159) Motion by Jackmon, seconded by Bentzen% that the bid of the Heights Service Station be accepted. Roll Call - All ayes. Comm~u~ication read regarding Minnesota Tax Conference to be held at the Andrews Hotel February 28th and 26th. Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Soek~lant, that the registration fee and expenses incurred by City Assessor or ~such members of City Council who are able to ~ttend be paid by City. Roll Call - All ayes. Members of the Fridley Town Board and reoresentation of Fridley residents aooeared be- fore. the Council in regards to drainage of area east of Central Avenue in F~dley town- ship. Subsequent discussion. It was d~.cided that ~ridley Town Board would drain the slough hole into existing culvert across 48th Ave. ~. E. Motion by Jackson, seconded by S~ekulant, that Columbia Heights City Co~mcil would cooperate in this matter with said. Fridley Town Board. Roll Call - All ayes~ Communication from the Civic Improvement Association requesting permission to Conduct the 1944 Annual Harvest Festival read. Mr. Ray Pritchard appeared before the Council in behalf of the said organization. ~as decided to,table the matter until the next meeting. M. for the purpose of considering a contract with Ed Phillips and Sons for purchase of liouor. All members were present. Mr. ~ross of Ed. Phillips & Co. appeared before the Council and stated provisions and terms of proposed contract. Discussion followed. Motion by Nygaard, seconded by Snekulant, authorizing the Mayor s~d City }~nager to enter into contract with Ed. Phillips & Co. for purchase of 702 cases of whiskey to be delivered over period of 18 months; said contract to be subject to tl~e aoDroval of the City Attorney. Roll Call - all ayes. Chief Cottrell appeared before the Council in regatta to his recent meeting with Howard Kelly of the Minneaoolis Police Radio. it ~-~reouested that a letter be written to E. Hillner, Chief of Minneapolis Police Dep't., st~.ting Council's decision as to whether or not the Colmmbia Heights Police should re,up, in on the Minneapolis Police Radio system. Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Jackson, that the City l~nager be authorized to write a letter to the Minneapolis Chief of Police stating that Colm~bia Heights wishes to remain with the Minneapolis Police Radio hook-up. Roll Call - all ayes. Motion by Jacksnr, seconded by Nygaard, that application of the Heights Taxi-cab Service to operate in the City of Columbia Heights be tabled until the regular meeting.
