Meeting called for the purpose of discussing new fire barn plans and any other business which might come before the me~ting. Lengthy discussion on Fire Barn. Discussion on l~,~th Ave. as an outlet from the Northern Pump Company. Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Bent~en, that the City Man~ger be author- ized to advertize for bids on a patrol, drawing up his own specifications for new or used. Roll call -All ayes. Motion by Jackson, seconded by Pritchard, that ~ity Man~.ger be authorized to buy ~ Gal. tar kettle. Roll call - All ayes. Motion by ~ent~.en, seconded by ~pekulant that Cit~ Man~ger be authoriTed to purchase 6 - "No Parking" signs. Roll call - ~ll ames. Recon~nendation by the Mayor, that ~iardy Soderholm be appointed to the Civil Service Commission to take the place of Joe Wargo whose teen has expireS~ Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Jackson, that Hardy Soderholm be appointed to the Civil Service Commission as per above. National Defense Treasury Notes due (3/4~) 19[1,4, be accepted, subject to the approval of the City, Clerk and the City Attorney, to take the place of $17,000. H.0.L.C. 5/8% bonds. Roll call all ayes. Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Bentzen, that the request of the Minnea- polis Gas Company for extension of gas mai~s to lot 28, block 16,~ be granted. Roll call -All ayes. Notion by Pritchard, seconded by Spekulant that the request of the North- western Bell Telep~hone Company to lay conduit on Central Ave. be~tween 42nd & 45th, also 40th just east of Central, be granted. Roll call - All ayes. Notion by Pritchard, seconde~d by Spekulant that Rudolph Swanson be granted no more permits from now until thirty days after the final inspecZ~on of any job he is now working on due to poor workmanship. Roll call - All ayes. Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Jackson, that the City ~lanager be'instrnct- ed to notify all plumbers in writing, that any work hereafter found un- satisfactory be the plumbing inspector will be cause of revocation of their licenses. Roll call - All ayes. 1st Reading of Ordinance ~ An ordinance to regulate the plaflting of trees and the care and pre~.serva- tion of trees in the parkways and streets of the City of Columbia Meights. Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Bentzen, to accept the plans of t'he new Fire Barn and presented to the Council and subject to further approval of the-City ~¢~anager. Roil call - All ayes. Resolution offered by Jackson, seconded by Spekulant: ~he City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves.- Tha~ the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and instructed to make the following transfer of funds: Twelve Hundred ($1200.) from the 'Liquor Fund to the Street Maintenance Fund. Two Hundred ($200.) from the "Liquor Fund" to the Poor Fund. And the City Council hereby finds that there is sufficient monies in the Liquor Fund to m~ such transfers. Passed May 13, 1941.
