HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 665BEING AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A UNIFORM MUNICIPAL ELECTION DAY. Section 1. Session Laws. THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS DOES ORDAIN: That the City of Columbia Heights herein adopts 710 of 1967 Section 2. That the municipal election day in the City of Ootumbia Heights shall be the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in every odd numbered year. Section 3. Municipal officers elected on that day shall take office on the first business day of January next succeeding their election. The Mayor is elected for a period of two years and the councilmen are elected for a period of four years. Tuesday after second Monday Section 4. The present term of the Mayor, Bruce G. extended to the first business day in January of 1970. Dale Jeska is herein extended to the first business day of January of 1970. The present term of Councilman YVilliam Land is herein extended to the first business day of January of t972. The present term of Gouncilman YV,atter Logacz is herein extended tO the first business day of January of 1972. Section 6. The terms of office shall remain the same,-Mayor two years; Councilmen, 4 years. Section 7. This ordinance shall not be in force and effect until 90 days after passage and publication. Section 8. Should any section, subdivision, clause, or other provision of this ordinance be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decisisn shall not effect the validity of the ordinance as a whole nor of any part thereof other than the part so declared to be invalid.
