HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 648 ORDINANCE NO. 648 BEING AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING THEATERS. THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. No person, firm or corporation shall ' operate or conduct a legitimate theater or moving picture theater without being licensed under this ordiance. Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation desiring a license under this ordinance may file with the Ci%y Clerk an application in writing designating the place where such business is to be carried on with the name of the applicant signed thereto, which application shall be presented by the City Clerk to the City Council at its first meeting thereafter. The City Council shall then pass upon such application and may, in its own discretion, authorize the issuance of such license to the applicant. Section 3. Section 4. issued. Section 5. Annual fees for licenses under this ordinance shall be as follows: All indoor theaters - $100.00; All outdoor theaters - $150.00. Ail licenses shall expire on December 31 of the year in which they are Any person violating this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by fine not to exceed $100.00 or by imprison- ment for a period not to exceed 90 days. Section 6. Should any section, subdivision, clause, or other provision of this ordinance be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not effect the validity of the ordinance as a whole nor of any part thereof other than the part so declared to be invalid. Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be ~n force from and after Thirty (30i days after its passage.
