HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 633ORDINANCE NO. 633 BEING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STATE ELECTRICIAN LICENSE REGISTRATION THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. No electrical permit shall be issued to any applicant not having a State t'A" Master license in force, except that permits may be issued'to the resident owner of a single family dwelling for elec- trical installations in that dwelling. Every electrician applying for a City license registration must be not less than 21 years of age. Such applicant must furnish, from the S~ate Board of Electricity, evidence showing that he has a Master Electrician License as prescribed by said Board, and that he has a $1,000 surety bond in force. Section 2. Issuance of license registration. Ail license registrations granted under this code shall be issued by the City Clerk, upon order of the City Council, from bookD:pre- pared for that purpose, and on the stub of which shall be kept the name of the licensee, his business location, the date of granting, and the date of issuing the license registration, and such other detail as may be necessary to form a complete reference and memoranda of the licensee. Section 3. ~xpiration Transfer. All said license registrations shall terminate and expire on January 1 next succeeding the issuance of the same, unless sooner revoked or forfeited. Said license registrations shall not be transferable or assignable. Section 4. Fee. An Annual license registration fee of $15.00 for a license registration shall be paid to the City Treasurer before the issuance of the license registration certificate. Section 5. Revocation of License Registration Certificate. The City Council, for just cause after notice and hearing, may revoke any electrical license registration. Section 6. Place of Business Recorded. Every license upon receiving a license registration to do business as an electrician, shall record in the office of the Building Inspector his actual place of business, and the name under which his business is transacted, and shall immediately notify the Building Inspector of every change in name or place of business, and such change shall be endorsed upon his license registration. A licensed electrician will not be deemed to have a place of business unless a sign bearing his name and business be publicly exposed at the premises occupied by him in the State of Minnesota for that purpose. The discontinuing of any licensee of his place of business shall operate as a forteiture of his license registration. Section 7. Should any section, subdivision, clause, or other provision of this ordinance be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not effect the validity of the ordinance as a whole nor of any part thereof other than the part so declared to be invalid. Section 8. Time of taking Effect. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after thirty (30) days after its passage.
