HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 629PREAMBLE PREAMBLE TO ORDINANCE NCo 67.~ , BEING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE CITY iVIANAGER NOT TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR UTILITY EXTENSIONS UNDER UNIVERSITY AVENUE AT 38Ti-I, 41ST AND 42ND AVENUES." WHEREAS, it became necessary to properly carry on the functions of Municipal Government of the City of Columbia Heights, to proceed with public improvement; and WHEREAS, there is not sufficient time to enable the City of Columbia Heights to advertise for bids for utility extensions. THIS CITY COUNCIL HEREBY, and under this Preamble declares an emergency exists for 'the preservation of 'the public safety and that in order to promptly meet said emergency, it is necessary to pass Ordinance No. (~7,,q , as an emergency ordinance. Passed this 27th day of June, Offered by King Seconded by Jeska Roll Call -All Ayes. 1966,~ Secretary of the Council ORDINANCE NO. 629 AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER NOT TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR UTILITY EXTENSIONS UNDER UNIVERSITY AVENUE AT 38TH, 41ST AND 42ND AVENUES. THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS DOES ORDAIN: Section I. That the City Manager of the City of Columbia Heights is hereby directed to refrain from advertising for bids for utility extensions under University Avenue at 38th, 41st and 42nd Avenues. Section II .~.. That the City Council has been advised by the appropriate department heads of the City of Columbia Heights that certain utilities must be extended underneath University Avenue at 38th, 4!st and 42nd Avenues. That the utility extensions must be coordinated with the highway con- struction work, which is now in progress at University Avenue. That Knutson-Sauerer is the Highway Department Subcontractor, which will be working on the utilities in the highway construction. That Knutson- Sauerer has been given plans and has submitted a low bid in the amount of $7464 . The bid of Knutson-Sauerer very favorably compares to the Engineering Department estimate. Section III. This ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety, hereby declares it ~:o be an emergency ordinance and shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
