BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A TRAFFIC COMMITTEE
FOR THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS AND ENUMERATING I~S
POWERS AND DUTIES THEREOF.
THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS DOES ORDAIN:
Section I. MEMBERSHIP - The Traffic Committee s~all consist Df
five members and in addition thereto the City Engineer
and chief of Police shall serve as ex-officio members. The members
shall be appointed by the City Council of the City of Columbia
Heights to serve for a period of one year. The Council shall, in
selecting the members, select Qne each from the following categories;
one member shall be selected from the City Council, one member shall
be an employee from the School District, one member shall be
selected from those people transacting retain business within the
said City, one member shall be selected from those people doing
business in the industrial,district, and one member shall be
selected from the public at large.
Section ii. ORGANIZATION - The committee upon appointment shall
elect one of its members to serve as its chairman
and one of its members to serve as its secretary. The committee
shall then establish a monthly meeting date. The secretary shall
cause to be prepared an agenda for each meeting, which agenda shal~
be sent to the committee members for their consideration at least
two days prior to the meeting date.
Section III. POWERS AND DUTIES - The Traffic Committee shall be an
advisory body to the City Council of the City of
Columbia Heights, The Council shall refer to the said committee ~tl
matters pertaining to the regulation of traffic upon the streets and
ways within the City of Columbia Heights. The Committee shall, upon
receiving such referrals from the Council, set hearing dates when
it shall give full consideration to such matters. Within thirty
(30) days of the said hearing, the committee shall make written
recommendations and forward same to the City Council for consider-
ation.
Section IV.
SERVE WITHOUT PAY - The membership of the committee
shall serve upon the committee without pay.
Section V.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after thirty (30) days after~its passage.
