The 0ity of 0olumbia Heights Does Ordain:
Section, .1, Ibis Hot ~o _w)~_u At Large: No owner of any dog or animal
of the dog kind shall permit the same to run at large within the City of Colum-
bia Heights.
S~ection 2, Registration of DoMs.. Within thirty (~0) days after the
taking effect of this ordinance, and thereafter within thirty (80) days after
obtaining ownership or custody ~ any dog or animal of the dog kind, every resi-
dent of the City of 0olumbia Heights ~ register such dog or animal of the
dog kind with the 0it¥ 01erk. This registration shall be a perm~uent registra-
tion and need not be renewed from year to year. Upon application the City Clerk
shall issue to the owner or person having custody of any dog or animal of the
dog kind a 0ertificate of Registration, which shall state the ~me and address
of the owner or person having custody of the dog, the kind or brewed of dog or
animal of the dog kind being registered, its age, sex, color and markings. A
duplicate copy of such Certificate of Registration shall be kept by the City
Clerk.

Section 4, Dog Tag ~Arnished: Every owner or person in custody of a
dog, or animal of the dog kind registering the s~me shall be entitled to re-
ceive at no additional expense~ a metalli ch shall have stamped or en-
graved thereon the Register number of the dog or ~ of the dog kind registered.
Any person who shall make, sell, purchase or possess, or shall place or allow to
be placed on their dog, or any dog in their custody, any metallic tag of the
same form, shape or design, or intended to be like the official dog tag, or shall
attempt in any w~y to counterfeit the desig~ adopted for such official dog tag
shall be guilty Of & misdemeanor, and %hall upon conviction be punished in accord.
with the penalty provisions of this ordinance.
.Sectio..n. 8, Dog Supervisor: ~he City M_~n~_ger shall appoint an official
Dog Supervisor whose duties shall be the enforcemen~t of the provisions of this
Sectio.n 6., Do..g Pound: The City shall provide an adequate pound where
all dogs and animals of the dog kind taken into custody by the Dog Supervisor
shall be kept and properly fed unti~ disposed of according~o the provisions of
this ordinance.
_Section 7, . Duties of DoE Superviso.r: The Dog Supervisor shall take
into custody and place in the dog pound all dogs or animals of the dog kind which
he finds running at large within the 0ity of Columbia Heights.? If such dog appears
to the Dog Supervisor to be viscious or diseased it sh~ll be kept separate and
apart from other dogs then in the pound.
Section S, l~otificmtion of Owner: Within forty-eight hours after t~king
a dog or _~_nt~mal of the dog kind into custody the D~g Supervisor shall, if the
dog has on it an official dog tag, leave at the address shown on the Certificate
of Registration, a notice that the dog or animal of the odg kind is in his custod~~
and will be disposed redeemed before a stated date a~d time, which time
shall not be less than four full days after such dog was taken into custody.
~ection 9, Redemption of .DoM B~ Owner: Every owner or person having the
custody of a dog or animal of the dog kind ma~v redeem the same from the DOg Super-
visor by paying to such Dog Supervisor a fee of Two ($2.00) Dollars plus twenty-
five (25¢) cents per day for board and keep~each day or fraction thereof that
such dog is held in custody by the Dog Supe~viser.
Section 10, Unredeemed Dogs To Be Disposed 0~:~ Upon empiration of the
time hereinbefore provided all dogs or animals of the dog kind in the custody of
the~Dog Supervisor shall be disposed of by shooting the same.
Section 11. ~cious Dogs Not ~o Be Ke~$ In 0it~: No personm~ shall
keep a vicious dog or auim~l of the dog kind within the limits of the City of
0olumbia Heights. Upon conviction of the violation of this section the Court
shall in addition to imposition of sentence direct the Dog Supervisor to take the
dog in question in custody and forthwith ,dispose of the same.
Section 12,. Penalty$ Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction there-
of be punished by a fine of not to exceed One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, or
imprisonment for not to exceed ninety (90) days.
Section 13, Time of TakinM Effect: This ordinance shall t~ke effect and
be in force thirty (SO) days after its passage.
