BEING A~ OFd)INANCE PJELATENG TO CERTAIN tLEPLACE~LENT
SIGNS IN THE CiTY OF COLUILBZA HEIGHTS
The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights Does Ordain:
Section t.
A sign on any parcel that is non-conforming under Ordinance No.
818 because of its size may be replaced within a period of three (3)
months after the destruction of such sign by another non-conformin~
sign so long as the replacement sign:
A. decreases the aggregate square footage of sign space on the
lot or parce! on which such sign is located;
B. does not increase the size of any individual sign surface;
and
C. does not increase the number of signs or sign surfaces on the
lot or parcel.
Section 2.
Before any permit is granted to an applicant for a sign ~ermit
allowable pursuant only to this Ordinance No. 858, th~ applicant
shall be required'to sign the following statement as part of his
application:
I have been advised that the Council of the City of Columbia
Heights is presently considering the adoption of an Ordinance
which may require the removal of the sign which i propose to
erect within a period not to exceed three years. Should the
City Council pass an Ordinance requiring such removal, I agree
to remove the sign in accordance with that Ordinance.
Section 3.
Applicant
No person, firm or corporation shall construct or erect a sign in
the City of Columbia Heights without having first obtained a permit
therefor. No person, firm or corporation shall ~ermit a sign to
exist on property ov~ed, occupied~ or used.by that person, firm or

corporation without having first obtained a permit for such sign.
The permit fee for the construction of signs may be set by Resolu-
tion of the City Council and may vary according to the size thereof.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
thirty (30) days after its passage.
