ENDORSfl,~G THE NOHINATION OF HRS. GLORIA BERESTP, OI~
AS 1976 STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR
BE I'F HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the Cit'/ of
Co]un'~bia Heights, that
WHERAS, Hrs. Gloria Bergstrom, teacher at Highland Elementary School
has been nominated as 1976 Teacher of the Year, having served in the
teaching profession in Columbia Heights at both Oakwood and Highland
Elementary Schoo]s, and
WHERAS, Mrs. Bergstrom has effectiveiy contributed to the development
of young people in our community by her activities including,
but not exclusively limited to, the following:
Giving of her own tim=~ beyond the school hou~. to
students requesting additional help often opening
her home to such students and extending a hand of
friendship to them as well as instructing them.
2. Promotion of the drug awareness program, through
her activities in the school and with the P.T~A.
3. Working effectively with the teacher alde progr:am,
utilizing volunteer help in the school room.
Serving as a liaison person for school involvement
with the park and recreation programs i~ our
community.
5. Assuming an active role in .party politics in our city,
including service as a state delegate in Minnesota.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that on behalf of the citizens of
our comn-tunity we endorse the nomination of Hrs. Gloria Bergstron~ as
1976 State Teacher of the Year, having served our community~leffectively
