HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 75-41788-9221 CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION NO. 75-41 BEING A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL CIVIL DEFENSE EXPENDITURE LINE ITEM AND DEFINING PROCEDURES FOR ITS USE WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Columbia Heights has established a Civil Defense Agency, and WHEREAS, many citizens of Columbia Heights have given generously of their time and efforts to be a part of said agency, and WHEREAS, the citizens of Columb b Heights have a safer community due to the Civil Defense Volunteers energetically and graciously preparing for action in case of certain emergency functions, and WHERAS, an integral part of such emergency training is dependent on the training that these Volunteers receive to prepare them for emergency functions, and WHEREAS, the Park Board of the City of Columbia Heights has found a need for assistance in keeping the peace in the parks and park property within the City, and WHEREAS, certain patrolling of the parks by the Civil Defense Volunteers will be beneficial to their training for otherwise authorized functions, and WHEREAS, other departments of the City and community organizations may similarly benefit from such patrolling, NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS: 1. That Civil Defense Volunteers may assist the Park Board, other departments of the City and community organizations in keeping the peace on park or other property to the extent that such activities benefit the Volunteers in training for authorized functions; 2. That the City Clerk-Treasurer shall establish a Special Civil Defense Expenditure Line item; 3. That City Departments and community organizations shall pay such sums as are agreed upon between them and the Civil Defense to be credited to the Special Civil Defense Expenditure Line Item; Resolution No. 75-41 page two 4. That said Special Civil Defense Expenditure Line item monies may be used for expenses of the Civil Defense Agency for the purposes and in the manner authorized by law; 5. That the Civil Defense Agency shall, from time to time, advise the City Council and Administrative Service of their wishes relating to such expenditures from the said Special Civil Defense Line Item monies.
