HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 75-32:A'VENU£ N~E. 78~-9221 CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES EQUAl OPPORTUiV/TY EMPLOYER · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION #75-32 OPPOSING LIQUOR PRICE ADVERTISING BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, that ~IHEREAS, the 1975 Legislature is considering a bill known as H.F. 838 that would allow for advertising of off-sale retail l~quor prices on radio, television, or on outdoor advertising devices, and WHEREAS, said proposal would in fact be detrimental to the small private owners of liquor stores as well as municipal liquor stores, and WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights derives a considerable income from the operations of its municipal stores thereby lowering taxes to our citizens, and WHEREAS, the costs incurred in competing by extensive advertising would in fact be a cost deduction from the profits that off-set taxes, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNC!L that our Legislators be informed of our opposition to H.F. 838 and respectfully request that they vote in opposition to said bill.
