HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 74-33CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES · COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION #74-33 ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF POLICE TECHNICIAN BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, that WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights is transferring all emergency service calls to central communications in Anoka, and WHEREAS, it is necessary for us to maintain a 24 hour a day monitoring of burglar alarms, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED~ That the position of Police Tech- nician be established to cover the necessary duties as civilian employees of the Police Department to assist in processing and maintenance of all reports and records and assuming such administrative work as may be re- quired by the department, in accordance with the job description as pre- pared by the Chief of PoliceD dated July 15, 1974. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a step scale for salaries be established with the beginning 1st 6 month step to be - $650/mo. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that- the Police Chief be and he is hereby authorized to proceed with the institution of this plan subject to re- view by the City Council when the actual hiring of personnel is to pro- ceed. DUTIES: Some examples of the duties of this ~osition include: 1. Assist in the processing and maintenance of all reports and files. 2. Prepares and types correspondence and reports from rough drafts and other sources. 3. ~elps maintain files and all correspondence reports and other materials so that they are readily available as needed. 4. Provides administration and control over all Police Depart- ment evidence and found property. 5~ Provides standardization and total input into the new State MINCIS System. 6. Assists in providing safety for temporary holding of prisoners° 7. Responsible for basic communication at our I{eadquarters. 8. Provides public information. 9. Performs all administrative work as required° 10. Performs other varied duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 1. High school graduate. 2. Ability to type 45 w.p.m. Desirable 1o Experience in the operation of a Police Department~ 2. ~o years in college. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Present salary range for this position is $ to $ per month. Additional benefits include: Hospital and Life insurance the employee, 10 day vacation after one year, twelve day sick leave a year accumulated, participation in Public Employees Retirement Associ- a%ion an~ Social Security. Periodic review of all employee's salar~~ levels are conducted on an annual basis.
