HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 74-05CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA 55421 RESOLUTION 74 - 5 BANNING SMOK]KX~ IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS kW~KRFAS, it is desirable to promote a wider program for cleaner air and to encourage citizens to assume personal responsibility for achieving a quality environment; and WHEREAS, the hazard of air pollution can be greatly diminished through intelli- gent action involving engineering equipment, research, education and personal conscience; and WHEREAS, tobacco smoke is a major contributor to pollution of the indoor environment resulting in a significant hazard to the health of both s~oker and non-smoker alike causing discomfort to the non-smoker and WHEREAS, for these reasons the abatement of air pollution in all its various forms is of utmost concern to American Citizens: NC~, %~KK~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, hhat as · c~tttYdnity leaders, ~ will set an example of the need for a clean environment by banning the use of smoking tobacco in the City Council Chambers and. that apprcpriate signs be set up to so infozm the Public; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVHD THAT this resolution, shall take effect and be in force frcm and after 30 days after its passage.
